I prefer image to be sharp, so I disabled the blurry MSAA and applied quite strong Lumasharpen effect and SMAA via ReShade. It looks better IMO.

So after quite a bit of fiddling, it turns out that the easy wasy to get ReShade working is to use the EDFX app for Elite: Dangerous. You can either d/l that, and install, or use this preset I cobbled together. I like it, but of course it's all subjective Razz

I'll post some comparisons if I can be bothered later Razz

Textures look pretty good but what makes this game so big are the FMVs which are far higher quality then the PS2 originals, the inclusion of english and japanese audio in higher quality with the optional new soundtrack, the extras like that short movie that ties X and X-2 together,FF X-2 Last Mission which was never released in english before and so on there is a lot of stuff in there.

It never ceases to amaze me the mentality of children allowed to use a PC these days. The matter of the game not being 60fps is for some reason highly toxic on the Steam forums regarding this game.

While I would love a 60fps version, I don't quite understand the open hostility regarding the subject - I can only conclude it's a case of 'keyboard justicars' - those who argue and defend a subject vehemently just because they can, rather than because it makes such a huge difference to their lives.

Very odd. Maybe those under 26 years of age should be banned from being allowed to type these days...

Why can't they just get some volunteer mods - ANYTHING would be preferable to how it is right now. I'd even volunteer, I feel like doing to productive modding again Laughing

Love that they remade the prerendered screens from scratch that was something that always bothered me a lot in pcsx2 they where pixelated and stretched while playing with the widescreen option.

For example Monster Arena:
PS2 (don't have one from PCSX2 but it looks like that just stretched)

But where is the chest now?

And yes, if the source material is good, it's much easier to enhance the graphics.
Unlike the remasters of the very old games.

That would certainly account for the increased size, having proper 1080p (or at least >480p) background renders will definitely bump the installation size up.

The chest is only there if you have a reward from capturing monsters in the world, IIRC.

Stretched? Look at the grass for example, and then the shell-things on the ground. Also compare the fabrics on both versions. They are remastered - as in, upscaled but keeping the original detail. If it was simply stretced, you'd get the same as in FF VI - which looks utterly awful, despite the game being good, it looks terrible.

As i said they are clearly remade from scratch and not based on the old renders.
