Game really needs a mod that allows to easily play holotapes and open notes/letters as I loot them. Or at least mark those I already played and read.

Jesus, did QA not made that suggestion during the development? Or I guess as standard for Bethesda, they were too lazy to do that themselves and rely on modders. Same issue was in Witcher 3, but they eventually patched that in. Can't really wrap my mind around why they miss such a basic feature, just because most players don't bother reading or playing the holotapes.

I used it for my whole playthrough almost and didn't experience any weirdness other than what everyone else is experiencing too.

Not sure if it actually helps at all though.

Yeah took me like 10 hours to find that out.
Using the settlement building UI without this was a nightmare... and even with it still kinda sucked :p

It's the first thing I always do as well - I love the FO1&2 music.

EDIT: and seems mods are starting to fix my main grievances:

- a lack of items to place in your home (especially clean looking stuff)
- the shitty dialogue menu now becoming the classic list of choices (yay!)

The cool black pipboy is also a plus since it seems they wanted to copy the cheap plastic shitty collector's edition version into the game. That made no sense since the Pipboy was clearly made out of metal in previous games and NOT cheap glossy plastic. The thunder bolt he added looks like shit though - I'll be editing that out Very Happy

Now we need a sexy female body mod with more hair styles and better looking outfits and we're off! Twisted Evil

I already got the mod that reduces the power drain for the power armor because I thought it drained way too quickly to be realistic.

@Rifleman So few? Hundreds of things including like 20-30 really useful mods alongside the better dialogue menu is not enough just a bit over a week after official release?

If they don't please you, you can always go to the Nexus yourself and find what you want.

No, but Witcher 3 is his favorite game, of course there's no Inventory management there Laughing Laughing

No wonder I put him on the list very early.

Witcher 3's weakest part was inventory management, but even that was miles ahead of this. This is just brutally bad.

well, you gotta admit that compared to witcher 3, fallout 4 is lacking in every regard except for combat.
if the game came out a year ago, i wouldve been more impressed, but playing it so shortly after witcher 3 makes the writing and characters that much more shitty.

Witcher 3 at least let me sort through items with Q and it was easier to pick what I wanted.

In this game, trying to play the holotape I just picked up has me navigating my ever growing misc inventory section.

Fallout 4's inventory system is horrible because Bethesda doesn't care about PC gamers. Why not have the intern come up with a serviceable PC centric UI for the PC release?

The only annoying thing about it is the MISC section, that's all, can't get easier. And if Radical is pissed off he can just use the infiinite weight shit so he doesn't have to drop off any stuff.

But holy fuck, Witcher 3 fanboys triggered Laughing Laughing

@AKofC They introduced the sorting button in a patch (1.07), so that certainly does not count.

@The_Zeel We're talking about Inventory Management and you come along with "Witcher 3 is better" wtf Laughing Anyone comparing them (and any game from now on with Witcher 3) can't be helped with. Fine, do it but don't use it as argument.

I got bored with Witcher 3 after the bloody baron, which was the only exciting thing within the game and stopped before going to Skellige. So much for that, but do I use that as argument in here? Nope, because comparing them is stupid.

Sorry Badrien, I haven't been messing with that yet. I didn't try the Kodix "fix" either, since apparently it was pretty glitchy.

One question; does anyone know how to disable that incredibly annoying close range "fog" you see everywhere you go? It's bad enough outside, but indoors is where it gets really obnoxious, where a room 10m away will full of a thick fog that magically clears up as you get closer. Really annoying, really ugly.

Is that related to the draw distance, or the object fade and other fade options in the settings?.

There is no separation for "overall" draw distance, just the object/actor one, but no, it doesn't seem to be related to any of them and I know for a fact I'm not the only person that has this :\ I remember it used to be a huge thorn back in FO3 *and* New Vegas too Sad

This, a hundred times this. It took me a while to even figure out that there are inventory categories when trading as the whole "My Inventory" bit was a goddamn nightmare. But the "Misc" menu ends up being a cluttered mess and there's no way of knowing what object has a use or has never been read/seen ... hell, if you could at least sort the "Misc" menu by NEWEST that would be an eleventy gabillion times better improvement Mad

Yeah, pretty much.. but it's ugly as fuck indoors and irritating as all hell outdoors because, as you can see in the 3rd image, you can see the "bubble" of No Fog around you. Fuck that bubble Mad

@sabin1981 Temporarily I put all MISC into a cabinet (where it belongs!! ) except those that are needed in a Quest (thus can't be moved) and always read notes and stuff asap, but it surely needs an overhaul.

Damn you, I never noticed the indoor fog, now you had to tell us about it! Evil or Very Mad

I like that bobbleheads/magazines give an instant, permanent, stat boost so you can at least store those. I've got most of the bobbleheads in the game and they're on the display cabinet, and I've got dozens of magazines which I'll put in magazine racks at some point.. but man oh man this inventory system is every bit as bad as W3's was at the beginning.

If not more so since it's just one long list Neutral
