psx went for 12 years, ps2 for 13 - so 10 years is actually a bit short in comparison.
the only console with a 5 year lifecycle in recent history was the gamecube, which isn't very surprising considering it was doomed from the start, being a shitbox with an awkward controller and a games library that was worse than that of the n64, which is quite a feat. didn't even get a decent zelda (no, i don't count TP) or mario game. oh wait, eternal darkness...nah. file that under n64 backwards compatibility
now gimme gimme yakuza 5. and as much as i'd like to finally play p5, i doubt we'll see it before 2017. it's kinda funny that atlus basically managed to miss the whole ps3 life cycle.

To me the last game i got and will get is Rise of the Tomb Raider, i though i will want Yakuza 5 also but after trying 3 and 4 it's just not for me (I liked the story/cutscenes but gameplay not), i also deleted many games from my list, so i'm down to about 15 games and then i could finally buy PS4 and play The Witcher 3 and Fallout 4 as the hype is killing me.

same here, gameplay/fighting got stale after the first 2 and i also just play them for the story. but setting it to easy and just burning through the fights turns it into a nice movie with some button-mashing in between

No ones interested in Mighty No. 9?
I'm a big Mega Man and fan and this is the creator of Mega Man so it's a spiritual successor. I'd also be interested in Ori and the Blind Forest if it is still coming to Xbox 360. (but I have my doubts it is)

Well for me I want Mighty No. 9 for 360 for piracy I'm not much of a pc gamer and don't have a gaming pc. That's also why I want Ori for 360.

The game is an abomination not worthy of using the mega man name.
But... that you're not putting money in their pockets!

tbh bushwacka, you won't get much for selling them anyway. You'd be lucky to buy a new game out of the cash you would receive from the sale.

I never understood selling consoles. Are you 100% done with every game that ever came out for it that you are interested in that you can't play elsewhere? If not why sell it? I still have hundreds of hours from games that I can play thus I'll never sell it.

over time, the financial aspect is the least issue, i'm just not eager to own stuff i'll never be using again. when i was 20 or so, i was proud of my games library and console "collection", but nowadays? nah. if you're a collector, then more power to you - but as soon as i'm done with games, why bother storing them.
if i've learnt something over the last few years then it's that if a game doesn't make me want to finish it right here and then or has that magical "one more mission" feeling, it's usually simply below my standards and/or doesn't respect my time. if it's been sitting there for a moth or longer and i still haven't had the desire to play, let alone finish it, i almost never ended up liking it in the end.
it's probably an age thing besides simply having other priorities, but the only things these days i feel the need to have an archive of are books and music. and porn

For me it's because of moving to another country. Didn't have the space nor was I willing to pay significantly more to bring more of my collection over.
Still got my most precious ones with me while I gave the rest away. Probably will start collecting again when we move to a house.
When I was younger I sold my PSX and my Saturn (which I regretted afterwards) that was pretty much since I stopped playing them and wasn't as madly in love with them as my other consoles.
