Yes, the Nitro is the 390 equivalent to the Tri-X on the 290X at Sapphire.
"Enlightenment is man's emergence from his self-imposed nonage. Nonage is the inability to use one's own understanding without another's guidance. This nonage is self-imposed if its cause lies not in lack of understanding but in indecision and lack of courage to use one's own mind without another's guidance. Dare to know! (Sapere aude.) "Have the courage to use your own understanding," is therefore the motto of the enlightenment."

At the end of the day, despite me not liking AMD, I would be really happy for them to have awesome DX12 performance and put Nvidia in their place. Otherwise Nvidia will never have incentive to improve anymore.

yeah, but they 200 bucks for a new 280x which is the same shit.
Yeah I got it for free, not from here, but in the meantime i got some cash, and am selling it really cheaply just to get some extra money for a 970. I mean, i'm selling it almost 100 bucks cheaper than anyone else on the main used gear site.

How much you are asking for it?, 7970 is worth around 150€ in here, top end models like Matrix Platinum and Lightnings goes for 160-200€.

Switching from my Athlon X4 640 (4x3.0GHz) to my xeon doubled my framerate with a mere 6950. Imagine the performance boost you'll see if you switch to an intel CPU too I now have just a 970GTX and this PC is SOOOOOOOOOOOOO much faster and it's really silent compared to my noisy amd/amd combination.

In fact, the average performance increase from Haswell to Skylake is ~3-5%. Some things are faster, others are not.
Skylake only makes sense for people with old Sandy based builds (or older). If you have a high-end i7 Ivy or esp. Haswell/Haswell-E it's a waste of money and resources to go Skylake.
I was sorely disappointed when Skylake was released and read numerous reviews and benchmarks. A couple of reviews and benchmarks were using handpicked applications and tests which put it higher than it is IRL (several of those reviewers/sites are under pressure to show hardware in a good light in order to keep their place on Intels "ship-list".

its pretty much safe to say that if you have something like 2600k then there is nothing to upgrade unless its Haswell-E. i5 SB -> Skylake i7 is nice upgrade tho (or better would be just buy cheap ass 2600K to existing mobo).

I'd be satisfied with 4.5Ghz, which is what I'm running my 3570K at at the moment.
But its ok, I dont think I really need HT, it would just be a "nice to have" thing.

so maybe some mid way would be getting cheap lga1151 mobo:
https://www.asus.com/Motherboards/Z170-P-D3/specifications/
and 6600k
together it is smth like 350 eur, which is more than AMD upgrade but much less than complete ddr4 etc overhaul

Gigabyte Radeon R9 380 4GB GDDR5 256-bit [G1 Gaming, WindForce 2X]
GIGABYTE Radeon R9 280 OC WindForce 3X 3GB DDR5 384-bit
ASUS Radeon R9 280X DirectCU II Top 3GB DDR5 384-bit
Thank you! |
It seems that r9 280x is mostly out of stock, the only one left is a Gigabyte GV-R928xOC-3GD-TN for a good price.

not a single person that contacted me didn't try to lower price, and they are lowering it absurdly, into like gtx 660 price range. |
Since the 280X is nothing more than a rebadged 7970 with a few mhz more, maybe you guys could make a deal.
