Good.

MOO3 was the most anticipated game at the time, when released the wail of anticipation lifted and shit-crap was revealed.

4x hypemeter, so far:

1. Endless Space 2 (trackrecord)
2. Stellaris (expecting too many bugs in initial release)
3. Master of Orion (simply by lack of any substantial info)

I loved and finished master of orion 1 and 2 a few times as a teen (hehe, from what i can remember once you could defeat the guardian of orion, and get that planet you had pretty much won).. Nowadays i just wanted more realistic GFX, Aliens and spaceships, at that time we had great "cartoon" gfx, but now we could have great play mechanics and great realistic graphics, instead of just a remake of before with much better resources.. Cool

I want to play this game for the voice cast. Rolling Eyes

"Enlightenment is man's emergence from his self-imposed nonage. Nonage is the inability to use one's own understanding without another's guidance. This nonage is self-imposed if its cause lies not in lack of understanding but in indecision and lack of courage to use one's own mind without another's guidance. Dare to know! (Sapere aude.) "Have the courage to use your own understanding," is therefore the motto of the enlightenment."

Personally, I'm really worried about this game.

At this point, all marketing is about, "See... we spent a lot of money on presentation, buy our game!", with very little focus on the gameplay.

That's certainly a pretty good cast. Surprised they don't have Quark as he's in a lot of games.

The new GFX and apparent good effort on the audio its on their part. The gameplay is know from the past MO 1 and 2, and need not to be an innovation. (plz dont break it)

How youll play it.. That will be up to you.

Early Access Trailer and Feature Details

Quote:
We're only a few days away from Early Access, so we've put together a quick trailer to show off some of the gameplay you'll see once it's live on the 26th. Included in the trailer is the galaxy map, a closer look at star systems, the tech tree, a view of one of your potential colonies, and tactical battles.

The combat sequence you see is all in-engine and part of tactical battles using the cinematic camera option; this is not pre-rendered.

Now that you've taken a look at the video, here are the key features you can expect on the 26th:

- Six races: Alkari, Bulrathi, Human, Mrrshan, Psilon and Sakkra
- Three victory conditions: Conquest, Diplomatic and Excellence
- Tactical Battles
- Multiplayer
- Ship Design
- English and Russian language support for text and VO
- 64-bit Windows support

In addition to the key features, the core gameplay is implemented, which will allow for a full playthrough of the game.

We will unlock additional races, victory conditions, features, language support and operating systems as we progress through Early Access.

This is just the beginning, but we can't wait to open the doors on this edition to the Master of Orion franchise. We're incredibly excited to hear your impressions, and will be following your feedback closely. Expect constant interaction here on Steam, as well as almost anywhere else you're discussing the game. If we can post there, there's a good chance we will.

Not pre-rendered? Why would anyone think THAT was pre-rendered? Wink

In any case, this looks like a streamlined MoO for the masses.

I don't know about other MoO fans, but I don't think spending millions of dollars on the voice acting is necessarily a sign that the game will be a great evolution of the core design.

But I guess it can't be worse than the last one.

Best case scenario, it ends up like the new XCOMs: a streamlined, polished and modern take on an old classic that still retains depth. That would be really nice Smile

Ending up as dumb as Firaxcom would be a travesty for this game.

The new X-Coms are decent enough, though I think it's amazing they couldn't come up with something better after all those years.

This one, however, smells wrong to me.

It smells like a blatant cash grab using the name exclusively for monetary reasons.

Well.... Combat in this one is going to be RTSwP I Am Disappoint

Quote:

While tactical combat will be realtime (there's just something epic about realtime space combat), it's being designed so that you don't have to worry about having the APM of a pro RTS player. We're looking forward to hearing feedback once you've had a chance to try it out.
