Greetings captains,

It's been awhile since our last update, but we have been working. Unfortunately, not everything is ready just yet. Our biggest announcement is the upcoming free DLC featuring a complete storyline, even longer than the original campaign. As we promised, we've been recreating the storyline from Starpoint Gemini 1 and it should become available in June! We'll make sure to announce the release as soon as we're ready!

But, let's return to the business at hand. What's this update about? Several things:

Preparations for the upcoming free DLC
Standard assortment of minor fixes
And last, but nowhere near least: French localization. ALL credit goes to the esteemed gentleman by the name of Sébastien Gigot, a member of this amazing community, who took it upon himself to translate the entire game to French.
Mr. Gigot, we owe you a debt of gratitude we can hardly repay. THANK YOU!

As always, if you encounter problems, let us know and we'll do our best to answer and help as fast as possible.

And finally we come to the already standard change list:

CHANGE LIST

ADDED: Follow mission button, which comes in handy when juggling several missions at once
FIXED: Active Only button on the logs panel, now properly toggles between active/non-active missions
ADDED: New mission markers (on the HUD and the Starchart) for acquired/followed missions
ADDED: Campaign missions now have mission-appropriate images
FIXED: Several errors in the Cat and Mouse campaign missions (Shinova problem)
FIXED: Several minor errors in Second Front Baeldor side mission
ADDED: Throttle/Slider implemeted for Thrustmaster Flight Hotas X, Logitech Extreme 3D Pro, Cybord F.L.Y. 5 flight stick. ship speed should now properly change according to the position of the joystick's throttle/slider.
FIXED: Some issues with resetting to default controls. Full Gamepad control (for Xbox controllers) should now properly load the correct controls at game start-up and the "Reset" button at Options->Controls should now reset the controls for the appropriate controller.
UPDATED: Support for the following controllers:
Logitech F710 Wireless Controller
Logitech Rumble Gamepad F510
Thrustmaster Flight Hotas X
Logitech Extreme 3D Pro
FIXED: A bug where you were sometimes unable to accept a main mission (pressing Accept didn't start the mission)
UPDATED: Minor changes in the flare system
FIXED: Minor fixes in the Defense platform hitpoints calculations
UPDATED: File loading system improved (optimized for mods and DLCs)
FIXED: A potential problem related to News panels on stations where the game was attempting to access the wrong region
FIXED: A potential problem related to loading textures on some graphics cards
FIXED: A potential problem when drawing asteroids on some graphics cards
FIXED: A potential problem when drawing junkyard on some graphics cards
FIXED: Several fixes and improvements in the game log recording

Seems like there is some kind of spin-off coming to early access

Quote:
The spin-off to Starpoint Gemini 2 introduces coveted strategic elements into the tactical space simulation that is the Starpoint Gemini franchise. Conquer territory, conduct research, scavenge for resources and defeat your enemies. In Warlords, think BIGGER! Bigger universe, bigger ships, bigger stations. Expect many tweaked features; the community has decided on what they want and now they are getting it!

New Features:
    • Headquarters. Construct and upgrade your own personal space station; a massive structure that enables you to conduct research, build ships, assemble autonomous fleets and much more.
    • Conquer Territory. Gradually expand your reign over unclaimed territory, by battling minor factions, or conquer the entire Gemini sector, by facing off against familiar strong Gemini foes, familiar from the previous Starpoint Gemini titles. Reinforce conquered regions to defend themselves.
    • Conduct Research on simple weapon enhancements, obtain the expertise to construct a titan class behemoth, or boost the effectiveness of your non-combat fleets. Equipment, ship systems, enhancements and ships can still be bought, but he best ‘stuff’ can only be researched, constructed and improved in your HQ.
    • Construction and research demand the allocation of resources. Gather them by conducting missions for other factions, trade or purchase resources, or conquer regions providing a steady flow of resources, and bonuses.
    • A far larger game world will allow more distinction between ship sizes, pockets of empty space to travel through and your own giant space HQ where ships can be ‘parked’.
    • Skill classes, attributed skills and perk progression will be revamped and rebalanced, as will levelling-up, the reputation system and diplomacy.
    • Storyline vs Free-roam: The campaign storyline will be blended in with the more generic conquer quests. Free-roam mode strips all main storyline missions, but leaves side quests and generic freelance missions intact.
    • A full branching dialogue scheme, the industry standard in modern RPGs.
    • Technical additions include: x64 system only, projection mapping, deferred shading, physically based rendering and realistic physics.

The current goal is to release Starpoint Gemini Warlords into Steam’s Early Access program during Quarter 4, 2015.

Hi everybody!

We've got a small update ready for you today. Nothing major today, so I won't drag this too long. The changelist is below, as always.

Safe travels, captains!

CHANGE LIST

FIXED: An error that could potentially cause the game to crash when a fighter is firing a missile at the same time as the ship is going through its OnDestroy animation
FIXED: A potential CTD error when merceneries are attacking a defense platform
FIXED: An error in the "Rogues signing off pt.2" mission (Origins DLC)
FIXED: Faction change issue related to the Korkyran Triumvirate and the Liberation front (Origins DLC)
FIXED: Waiting for orders objective issue when crossing from mission 22 to mission 23
FIXED: An error where the Apocalypto didn't regenerate shields after they were shut down
FIXED: An error that would cause the game to crash when accessing the Starchart after all nebulas were removed from the game world
FIXED: A memory leak that would manifest after a long playing session. Several textures were never released from memory.
UPDATED: Slight PhysX optimization
UPDATED: Optimized Junkyards to increase performance

SPG2 1st Anniversary discount 70%

http://steamcommunity.com/app/236150/discussions/0/517142892061063120/

Quote:
Dear captains,

It's been one year since we released Starpoint Gemini 2 (first on Steam and then on GoG). When we first entered Early Access, we were scared. We knew we gave our best to do a good game, but we didn't know if players will accept it. They did. You did. And today you're not just Starpoint Gemini 2 captains, you are veterans. Thank you for staying with us this whole time, thank you for believing us and in us and thank you for all your support you showed during this last year.

Today we can announce that we will fulfill one more promise – Starpoint Gemini 2: Titans DLC is in production and will be released in November this year! That's our surprise and I hope you will like it.

Also in production is Starpoint Gemini Warlords, and very first in-game shots are to be revealed in the next day or so. As much as SPG1 and SPG2 were products of our desires, Warlords is the product of community and your input! Big thanks for that as well to all of you out there that participated in thousands of suggestion threads throughout entire year!
We are already preparing for Reboot InfoGamer 2015 where you'll be able to see and play Titans along with Xbox One version of the game.

Finally, to celebrate this with you, our friends, gamers and Meepsters, we will give away 10 copies of Starpoint Gemini 2 and 10 copies of Secrets of Aethera DLC along with some other games on our Steam forums that we will post in the next few days.

All Starpoint Gemini games are on big discounts too, so don't miss them if you don't have the game already or you would like to gift it to a friend.

Hmmm... slightly different games and focuses, hard to compare. SPG2 is a sprawling RPG whereas Rebel Galaxy is more tightly focused. Different. Personally I recommend them both and at -80% you cannot go wrong with SPG2 Smile

I am in the same boat since I got this as part of the Humble Bundle a month or 2 back but wondering if those DLCs are worth getting too. I still have not got around to playing it though but for $2 if they are decent it might be worth getting.

Because Sabin anybody else didn't reply to the DLC question, i just got the Gold pack now. Mad Very Happy

Looked a bit on the forums, and both paid and the big free DLC seem to be worth it.

Started playing this now.

First thing i noticed: You get bombarded with tutorials in the beginning. Some later tutorials even explain the same thing again.

Second thing i noticed are the bad controls IMO. In the very first tutorial fight i started to rage, as the enemy ship kept flying in a 720° angle around me and i had to keep turning my ship and my view to hit the little fucker. Laughing
Funnily only after that fight i get more infos about the combat system, like making the turrets fire autonomously.
Combat still feels rather annoying, as i have to keep turning my ship all the time so my turrets can hit enemies. Also instead of keep firing at a close target that already is low on health, they suddenly switch target to a enemy with nearly full health, wtf?!

Will keep playing more. But at least the combat feels inferior to the very fun action in Rebel Galaxy.

Meh, played this for ~2 more hours now, but i don't get warm with this game. Sad

- The controls still feel rather clunky.
- Flying from point A to B for several minutes for a shitty mission reward and to level up, seeing barely any other ships or stations on that way, isn't that fun.
- The autopilot is a joke. Most of the time it just rammed objects like space stations or asteroids. Rarely did it fly around.

As Rebel Galaxy was my only spacegame i played since a rather long time, i have to take that for comparison.
It was/is just so much more fun with better soundeffects, cool music, more enjoyable and regular battles, better graphics, working autopilot.

Will try to refund now. But as i already have 9h listed (thanks to idling :O), i have no high hopes.

Well, next time i should first try the isodemo. Smile
