The linear / low playability story of XCOM for me was why I only played it once. I had absolutely zero interest in the expansion, as I want humans vs aliens, not humans versus humans.

It adds new aliens too. But yeah Exalt was the worst thing about it. There's even a mod to remove their missions from the game.

EXALT seemed like a relatively small part of it to me. I have dealt with them pretty early in the game.

Otherwise Enemy Within adds quite a lot in tweaks and features to the base game. It did take me about a year since I last played Enemy Unknown before I considered playing the expansion though.

XCOM is one of the only games I've actually played to the end in the past few years and now a sequel out of nowhere coming in a few months? Fucking hot damn can't wait!

Like in the old XCOM right?

And playing XCOM for the story? Laughing
The important story is fabricated while you play and what happens while you do so, it's your journey.

He's tweeted about playing the mod so I bet he will take some inspiration from it.

Yeah, I'm aware that he plays/played it. He tweeted very often about it.

my journey... lol. personalities can add extra challenge and levels of tactical choices depending who you control. personalities should be totally random ideally the way i want it.

not playing xcom for story: what i meant the vanilla progression is predictable after one playthrough and doesnt make me want to play again.

FiraXCOM barely has anything to do with X-COM in the first place so actually taking stuff from far superior games seems like a good idea. They can start with X-COM.

Some new info in this article.:

http://me.ign.com/en/xcom-2/107028/preview/xcom-2-welcoming-our-new-alien-overlords-ign-first

- 5 classes (sharpshooter, ranger, grenadier, specialist). The fifth is a secret that will be revealed later
- Ability to stop enemies from running to cover when they spot you
- More environmental destruction. Fires spreading, acid burning through stuff, exploding barrels
- Don't necessarily need to kill every enemy on the map in order to complete the mission
- No set evac points, you can call for extraction almost anywhere
- Alien enemies will be much more powerful right from the beginning and will require a lot of teamwork to kill, for example Sectoids are now 7 feet tall and have immediate access to psionic powers. Human Advent soldiers on the other hand are more on equal footing with XCOM.

They could also get some stuff from Xenonauts.

Xenonauts after patch 1.5 is the best UFO/X-COM clone out there.

As for the chances of XCOM 2 making its way to Xbox One and PlayStation 4 at some point in the future, Solomon wouldn’t rule it out, but it won’t happen any time soon. “We're certainly not opposed to that, but I can assure that's something we're not even discussing yet,” he said. He added that the PS4 and Xbox One would likely be technically capable of running XCOM 2, but developing all of these features for multiple platforms simultaneously would be impossible for Firaxis to do.

Pretty much what everyone has been suspecting - console versions will probably be released later.

I don't even care as long as Solomon can do his thing unhindered with the PC version this time around.

They already showed a horrible UI in one of the screenshots. I doubt they'll change it.

It'll be like Diablo 3. Totally not impacted by consoles.

The most obvious change resulting from those conversations is how the team is optimizing the interface to be mouse-and-keyboard friendly, moving UI elements and grouping them logically so that buttons we’re likely to press one after the other aren’t placed on opposite sides of the screen. “It will certainly be recognizable, but there isn't one UI widget that's the same,” said Solomon. We’ll also see more tactical information (such as detailed explanations of why your chance to hit is increased or decreased) displayed on the tactical interface, since Firaxis can now count on players sitting closer to their PC monitors and being able to read smaller text. And though Firaxis plans to add it in the future, the current plan is to launch without gamepad support.

Well let's hope their not talking bullshit, but yes, it's still underwhelming on that screenshot, although already better than Xcom1.

It's really a fucking great idea, innit? First, we release a so called PC Master Race Edition. Everyone will be praising us and all, you know. Gullible idiots. I mean, you say a few words here and there, "pc gaming rules" "pc gaming all the way" "we'll do this and that and that only available on PCs" and voila you are golden. They won't even realize they will be doing us a favor testing the game and reporting bugs. Can you imagine that? These morons will be paying to participate in a beta test. Ahaha. And then, only then we are going to release a polished console version and probably a special PC edition to make them shut up and not raise a shitstorm.. Sounds great, eh?

and then .... android and IOs .... Laughing so much BS

Its only exclusive to PC for only one thing : Patches on PC are free then , 3.000$ or more on Consoles per patch

PCs became a test platform , if its exclusive you know why ...

@Pl@tinum
this game was designed with a GamePad in mind , if you play it with a pad ... if perfect ... its bizarre but thats how it was designed
