I don't have anything with the graphics. They look fine to me. Quite polished, too. I like the overall feel of the game. But again, i was never a graphic whore.

Same here, the 2.5D graphics actually surpassed my expectations. I really hope Obsidian and In-Exile with torment continue to use this style.

It's like meeting old friends in new clothes. Wouldn't mind new games in the same style.

When BG and Planescape were released I enjoyed their graphics much more than POEs now. And on a side note, I still play ADOM sometimes, so it's not like graphics is all that matters or anything
Anyways, I've checked some reshade\sweetfx profiles and I'll prolly use one of them. They do make the game look more..interesting... and colorful.

I enjoy PS:T's graphics much more than POE's right now - It's just because the amount of resources required to achieve the level of detail and smoothness of well-drawn and well-animated 2d with a 3d engine is well beyond their reach.

Now imagine: if they had just double this money, full voice acting, HD models, which are more varied, animated faces, etc. It would have made this already GREAT game LEGENDARY.

I agree with your post and get what you're saying but I have to disagree with this. Baldur's Gate 2 and Planescape didn't have any of these and
yet they are legendary. It's the quality of the writing, story and gameplay that matter in the end for RPG games. |
That's how the younger generation always thinks if something has no modern AAA 3d gfx, full, voice acting etc it's cheap and it automatically lowers their enjoyment of it they are simply trained by today's gaming market to think that way.
I mean what would animated faces (or HD models whatever that means...) even do in a game like that you can hardly see them anyway when zoomed out |
The specific reason I took the time to flesh out what I meant by budget titles was to make sure my point doesn't get taken out of context. Thanks, tet66, for misunderstanding.

Any suggestions / links? (I'm a total noob with sweetfx, never used it)

@The_Leaf
I haven't tried any profiles yet Usually I check this database for new stuff

I was playing this at the highest difficulty setting (forgot name... path of the damned?) - but after reading about the bug unintentionally increasing the state of companions, I'm gonna wait for a patch. I'm now worried that I've been hit by the bug as well, and don't really know how to check it.

If there is no bonus XP then I don't feel like upping difficulty to hard. I'm fine with normal atm. There are challenging battles even on normal. Less then on hard, obviously, but I don't feel like stressing out more than usual without any reward lol + I'm not happy with camp supplies being limited(constantly going back and forth to get some -meh).. I could use a console command but I'd rather not.
I'll probably play it on hard on my second playthrough.

I'm surprised there is so little nerd rage about the release, the game should not have been released in this state.
Stopped playing, it's not fun to constantly be aware avoiding certain things to trigger bugs.
Also wondering why obsidian isn't hotfixing stuff, most of the major bugs should be fixed without any problem. Just fixing the major bugs would make it playable. Hope the first patch fixes them, but have my doubts.
It's bullshit that hotfixing can't be possible cause there is a risk of creating new bugs cause of poor testing.DOS had daily patching at release for instance.

Besides, I'm fairly certain that at least some of the issues aren't as widespread as people are led to believe. For example, I've reloaded my game at least a couple of times in locations I recruited companions in (in Kana's, Eder's and the ranger Dwarf gal's case I know that for certain) and most carry gear enhancing defenses (rings, cloaks etc.), yet I have no bloated defenses problem with any of them. I checked. Which leads me to the assumption that there must be another, unknown factor in play. And that perhaps in some cases it's just people not knowing the system (like not knowing the fact that you get 3/level bonus to every defense may lead people to believe there's something wrong with their characters, because other players with actual problems turned their attention towards the bug). |
The stat boost bug seems kinda random, also didn't notice it. Most of the bugs can be easily reproduced though.
Wasn't aware of any bad stuff either, untill I was paying attention to it, noticed 2 (unreported) and fairly annoying bugs in 5 minutes. Read the bug forum for an hour after this and there is just so much stuff to avoid cause of weird stat bugs, I find it hard to enjoy the game this way.

I see no reason to read forums in search of bugs I haven't even encountered. I'd rather enjoy the game. If I encounter something that hinders that enjoyment, I'll try to fix it by rolling back (I'm used to utilizing at least 3 manual saves in every game I play). If I can't, I'll take a breather and come back once the patch is here. There are no bug-free games nowadays, it's a sad reality. Putting a game I've waited 2 years for on hold because I might perhaps maybe encounter some problems other people might've perhaps maybe encountered is just silly hysteria. That's how I see it at least.
*edit*
And here I thought the game was getting easier on me... Act II spoiler:
Spoiler: | Forge Knights are majorly kicking my ass |

Be nice for Obsidian to become financially independent.
Maybe they'll be able to hire proper QA testers going forward.
