Why would they care about Steam? They run a different service. It's probably Obsidian's call and they might want it to be a simultaneous release.

Do you think I can create a team full of magic users, or do I 'have' to bring a rogue or else I can't get any loot?

Skills are almost completely separate from classes. You get bonuses to certain ones, but you can train in mechanics (that's the one that helps with traps and locks) with pretty much anyone you want.

I don't know, but perhaps there are lock breaking spells.

Ok, that's good Aquma.

Hope so Stormwolf. In any case, allowing players to make their own team is the right design choice, the main thing is to not place a locked door in the story that only rogues can open; in which case my team of magical folk will be going wtf.

So, want to share your plans to play the game? I plan to go with trial of iron difficulty, but not sure if I should use my own companions or the pre-generated ones. Is it possible to have a mix?

Every class is capable of disarming traps\picking locks. Just put points into Mechanics skill.

I doubt that will happen. If there are any locked doors required for the story i'm pretty sure you can obtain a key for it.

I think it is. You "recruit" companions in taverns.

Normal difficulty. I always play on normal. I don't like stressing out much Very Happy I have enough stress in my life lol

Normal is good unless you read/have heard it is way too easy, like was the case in Dragon Age: Origins to a point where it almost ruined the game.

I think I will try normal for this game, and if it is good/interesting combat, I will try harder for my next playthrough.

It also can be fun to create different teams of adventurers and try for another run.

I'll just go for normal regardless of how it feels in game. These games tend to be hard in the start, then easy and then it becomes a brick wall. At least it was so for me in Nwn 2.

I'm gonna go with hard. I'll just lower it if it proves too frustrating. No trial of iron on my first playthrough either. I just want to experience the story and the world in a challenging way.

My first character is gonna be a Cipher for sure. Not sure on specifics (races, prefered weapons etc.) yet though.

Sorry, I misspoke. I didn't mean trial of iron, I meant Path of the Damned. Not ironman, but the hardest difficulty.

I'll go hard with most of the extra help stuff off(not expert because it just turns all of them off) and only companions.

Path of the Damned for a second playthrough with custom party.

Normal felt too easy in the backer beta/the little gameplay I've seen of the full version.

IG: You mentioned the difficulty settings… it’s already been said that the hardest difficult settings are fiendishly difficult, to the point that no-one in testing has been able to beat them.

JS: We did have someone in QA who was able to do it with exploits, but we fixed him.

It is very hard. If players are used to games like Baldur’s Gate II and they’re fresh, like they’ve played them recently, then they can probably play on hard. If it’s been a while since they’ve played an Infinity Engine game, they should probably start on normal.

What's that help stuff anyway? Quest markers?

Everything above the line here. Dunno if there are more in the full version.

Mainly the dialog related stuff I want gone.

I just saw some info that there's a text scale option in the main menu. That's good.

It's a shame. Exploits often makes a game extra fun for me if the exploits are not too cheap. Does anyone recall the sandbag exploit in the original Command & Conquer ? You could surround your base with sandbags and the enemy would not cross them.
