All those complex and overly Rube Goldberg offramp stuff the streamers was making..
I made a simple everyday offramp setup and it seems to work fine for me Smile

Well that was interesting...

Everything was going well, city was expanding nicely, and then a few sick people. Then a few more. Then Armageddon struck and every house had a dead person in it and my population was plummeting by -25 a day...

No idea why - water was fine, pollution was fine, but then I noticed healthcare was pretty much not - it seems that I had 1800 sick people and only a 200 capacity hospital... now call me old fashioned, but that's a bit harsh - you need to have clinics like everywhere, which costs a fortune Neutral

Ah well, I put my first attempt down to Ebola, like Ixi said Laughing

Next attempt is looking much better, not exactly sure what I did differently, but I'm progressing nicely.

I have a one slight issue with the game;

As much as I hate SlumCity, I kinda liked the trade import/export idea. I don't seem to see anything like that in Skylines, but then I might not have gotten far enough yet.

There is a resource thing here as well. Industry needs stuff to make things, and they need to either get those products to the commercial zones, or export them. That's why it's essential to manage truck-traffic, as they can be the biggest source of congestion.

Only one thing I hate about this gem.

One road in, one road out. (unless you cross them) Why?

I want to just put a six lane road into the city at the start, if I want to. Why the 'in' and 'out' separated routes?

Thx for that DX Smile

I just cant see the reason to create a 'choke point' before one's city has even started lol, maybe just me being picky? Scratch Head

Lol I spent the first 15mins of the game just figuring out wtf to do with that choke point. Ended up spending all my starting cash on building and demolish roads, had to start a new game 4 times before I figured out a way.

If anyone cares how I did it. Its actually really simple, nothing of important or priority would ever enter your city that way (at least so far), so I just take them into a slight detour into a roundabout that splits into either the main road into downtown, or the further away one into the outskirt residential area.

Then I just make sure there are multiple way to enter the highway. Never have any traffic issues. My only major problem right now is that everyone decided to take the 2 lane bridge across the river, instead of the 6 lane one just a bit down the road.

Ah man, I am absolutely in love with this game. Have a nice going city (on first map). Managed to go into bankruptcy on my first try before the city even got started properly Laughing but going much much better now!

Recently bought a 3rd tile in order to keep my water outflow going in the right direction and have a pop of 26,000. I suppose they must have fixed the traffic ALOT, cause I have like no problems and I haven't even put in too much effort with my road network just yet. I'm building all over the place, spacing it out some leaving open areas and mixing grid with curvy roads. Only have some slight congestion in my industrial area and also going into my 2nd one in the tile below, leading to the train cargo shipment. Which in turn can cause some concern when they are leaving the station. But usually it seems to clear out pretty quickly. I suppose it will be a different story when I reach 35-40,000 though. Wink

I also love the fact that it is possible to check all your buslines, how many travel and how much it reduces the traffic. Just a shame you have to chase down the buses in order to check the lines, wish it was possbile by clicking the depot but I can't seem to find that there. For now my only complaint is the fact you seem to have to plot down a ton of schools as well as fire, police, clinics to keep everything up there. One thing I miss from SC is the ability to upgrade schools to take in more kids.

I also went bankrupt before the game even started. Made a nice layout and stuff and build everything i needed i only forgot about the powerlines towards the waterpump. Ended up with coming 6 blocks short and i thought it would sort itself out when i got some money in.

Wrong thought because there never came any money in and without the water i couldnt reach 500 population to get a loan, lol.

BREAKING NEWS!

In what must be a Hump first, a game, Cities: Skylines, has received unanimous praise and recommendation.

Only one person, the Hump's pet jester, polosistealth, attempted a troll like posting, only to be shot down in flames - which is the norm for that particular member.

As a result of this overwhelming positivity, the developers of Skylines have retired to a small island off the coast of Australia, and Gaben has announced the addition of another 10 pounds of himself.

Join us next month, as we ask; Will the world unite in global harmony and peace at the release of GTA V.

Played for about 2 hours of the codex version, before i decided it was well worth the money.

I was worried that the game lacked polish, specially when i see the "low" price compared to AAA titles. But i am happy to see, in many areas it is more polished than Sim City 2013.

Overall great game, can not wait to see what the modding community spits out.

I hope there will be some kind of solution for the very tiny fonts. I still can't believe that most devs ignore UI scaling. The majority of the strategy games have this problem.
Also Valve with their Steam machines (and the other hardware) will be in big trouble because consumers will buy these products for couch gaming. Imagine their reactions when they'll find that 80% of the games are unplayable beyond 1.5m .

Only got to play the game for an hour yesterday, but it really seems like a great game.
My city is seriously ugly though, but perhaps i'll get better at time goes on Smile

A few things though, as already mentioned by scaramonga the road on should be a 6 way highway, but thats a fairly easy fix.

Also when comparing to sim city, i'm missing some more building. the casino was something i really liked in and the ability to upgrade it. Some of this might be done my modders later on, but still, it would have been nice to have at launch.
