I need a wi-fi router, so what are your tips on good ones, that doesn't cost a small fortune? I really only need good wi-fi performance and that it's stable. I don't need 500 features, a firewall that puts banks to shame or anything like that. Speed and price Very Happy

Looks good! Anyone use/used TP-Link routers? Where I'm planning on buying, they have the TP-Link Archer C2 AC750 router. 802.11ac (even though I have nothing that supports ac, yet), 300+433 Mbps over 2.4 and 5Ghz, and external antennas.. And it's slightly cheaper too!

But maybe they're trash?

Thanks Spykez, but since I really wanted it delivered before the weekend, I ordered the Asus N56U. If it sucks ass, I'll probably replace it with something better though Smile

I'm using TP-Link, need to lookup what model it was, had no issues to speak of
several times in 2 years I had to restart it, and need to renew my IP every time my lease expires..

I'm using that one, but V1.

Either that one, or if you can, get Archer C7 V2.

Ok, im gonna get a router mainly for the wifi, i have the one that my ISP provided me, and thomson that its a crap for wifi, poor signal and it stop working more than twice a day. I dont use the wifi, i got a cable throught the wall but all my family needs the wifi.

I was planning on put the new router on my room, where the network cable gets and connect myself to the new router. So the point is, i saw some routers but i need some advice, as i mainly want it for a long range wifi throug a couple of walls and i need it 100% stable.

Saw this ones.

mmm big difference is an inbuilt DSL modem.. not sure it's much better than C7 from what I'm seeing

if you can afford, C8 and C9 have even better wifi coverage, and usb3 port

also check this out

what distances ?
anyway, if there are a lot of walls/reinforced concrete , 5ghz will not work.
so you need to work with old 2.4 band, which is disturbed by anything form tv remote to microwave owen.
routers this days have low coverage usually, if your first router was good, i would have sugested to get a repeater.
but in your situation (if the distance to cover is big and lots of concrete walls), i would try to find a router which have a 12v 1.5 or 2a transformer. that usually means more power to antenas and signal. asus usually have those. or get a regular one and later a repeater if is still not covering.

Im gonna order this, after reading a lot and looking at the amount of walls and a wardrobe in between im not pretty sure that a new router could solve the problem on the other point of the house, so i thinki for 47€ ill give it a try. Also saw a C7 in a second hand spanish forum, ill try to get it cheap Smile
