Well, it is rare to see even a 10% sale on a new game even during steam xmas sales, so the most we could have hoped for was some discount on the paintjobs. Razz

Players already fucking with the interstellar politics. Ho Hsi collapsed into civil war because of players.

Happy to call myself a minor contributor in igniting this conflict. Smile

Also, a small group of pilots managed to make a small-system faction start an expansion into a neighboring system by supplying them with weapons.

Popped my first Anaconda today from the assassination mission on the Bulletin Board. 190k mission reward + 55k local bounty, a nice little haul I suppose - and it was kind of exciting.

All it took me was a fitted to the gills Asp (valued at around 10.5 million when all was said and done), and a copious amount of Chaff and Shield Cells.

Regardless, in the time it took to track down and kill the fucking guy I could have made the same amount or more by simply running an adjacent trade-route twice, with next to no risk involved.

Like it or not, credits are king in Elite Dangerous, as there's really no other progress indicator present (rank is utterly worthless). FD themselves don't seem to realize this however, as trading, pound for pound and minute for minute of your time, far outweighs ANY other method of raking in the creds. It's just mind-numbingly boring (although not more so than "exploration" )

Playing something before finding it boring I agree... I haven't put in HUGE amounts of time so far in the game since release and know full well of its shallow state at present. Whenever I do login though Immunity is playing Smile

He's clocked maybe 6-7x my playtime for sure Smile if hes flying around in an ASP he must be doing something hella a right or playing a lot. Smile

If I had put 100hours into a game which I genuinly did find THAT boring and dull, I'd stop playing Smile But maybe I'm the minority in this thinking? Very Happy

I'm playing a lot because there's fuck all else to be playing right now. Have you seen the Steam Christmas sale? This year was so pitiful for gaming it's criminal. Sad Crying or Very sad Plus, the more I force myself to play, the less I feel like a complete idiot for dropping $70 on this all the way back in August. Very Happy

Trust me, come GTA 5 in January and I'll be dropping Elite right quick.

Have not been able to play for the last two days or so thanks to the cargo bug i am having, others are having it aswell.

Basically a transaction fails and from then on you cannot sell or empty your cargo bay so you are stuck with the goods. When you try eject them it says your cargo bay is empty but the goods reappear when docking or jumping to another system.

So cannot sell or eject the goods meaning i cannot trade or change ships. Absolute game breaker, ticket submitted... Rolling Eyes

Sold my Asp today to be able to buy a Type 7. I've found a route that's one jump in length, less than 6 light-years, with the stations on both ends being less than 100ls away from the jump point. I make 1,300/t one way, 1,100/t on the way back. Takes 10 minutes. With a 216 cargo capacity that equates to 530,000 credits in 10 minutes, about 3,000,000 credits per hour. Both supply and demand are near a million units, so it's not running out soon. Very Happy

In a few minutes I'll have made enough back to re-purchase my Asp.

Also, a little note to those daft cunts at FD (I can't post these thoughts on their official forum, as they'd most likely get yanked fairly quickly ).

Now, I may not have majored in mathematics, but I'm pretty sure it's universally accepted that 0=0. And by that I mean that when an Anaconda's power-plant reads "0% integrity", that means it's exploding. Not "oh, it's actually at .01% integrity, you've gotta hit it again before it pops". That little nit-picky quibble almost fucked me over today as I flew past it and stopped firing at 0, it kept pewing away, almost killing me by the time I had it lined up again. If you're going to be that precise with the damage model, then round that shit up to 1%, whether it deserves it or not. Evil or Very Mad

Dood Smile fair play.

I rage quit yesterday after not finding that named ship rofl!

Had a funny hour though, there was this guy in SC who kept flying past me whilst I was searching for the USS, every so often he'd say hi and I wouldnt have time to reply before dropping into the USS.

Eventually he flew up behind me and interdicted me. I allowed the interdiction. He was in an eagle, we faced each other without writing anything before he hailed me over comms. Had a funny 20 minute chat about the game and me struggling to find that ship, he said he'd keep an eye out in SC and then we both warped out. Was pretty cool.

No idea if he was looking to pirate me or anything but was a nice moment as opposed to just getting wtfpwned on sight Smile

Make your way over to me Imu and abandon like a mill of palladium cannisters for me Smile Wanna get myself some decent profits going Smile Im back to 1.1 mill now after upgrading my cobra to an A3 FSD Smile

Quite happy with that little monster. Thought I could find better rated gimballed lasers for this ship but looks like weapons are handled differently ratings wise.

They are basically fixed ratings, you dont find better ones.... kinda odd system but hey ho this is elite afterall Smile

If you can piss millions in a few minutes on your trade run, help a poor fucker out over here in federation. Otherwise I'll make my way over to where you are and pirate your ass when you are flying fully loaded Very Happy

In weapons the rating defines whether they're fixed, gimballed or turret.
But make sure ateast that you're buying class2 weapons for class2 slots for example. (Cobra has 2xclass2 and 2xclass1 hardpoints.)

Yup I got that down. atm I have 2 gimballed pulse laser class 2s and 2 gimballed class one multicannons.

Not sure if I should be bettering that somehow. I've found that even when I position myself correctly above a cargo hatch, 50% of the time I'll nuke the ship before taking down the cargo hatch. Something isn't accurate here.

Ok...so if you want to be an explorer, buy the surface scanner...

This is the result of my expedition to the Pleiades. Note, that there are only high reward entries. That's because I already sold the low yield maps. And those alone gave me around 150k.

I started my journey with 100k to my name. After exploring and scanning away, I ended up with solid 500k, while doing something I thoroughly enjoyed and didn't feel like a grind. Glad I gave exploration a shot. I found my true calling. Smile

Yes, you spend a lot of time flying around, staring at little dots as the ship does the scanning, but it's just relaxing and a great way to make money in the mean time. Smile

Plus, you sometime bump into interesting things, like a brown dwarf with a ring system. Razz

Next time, I'll fly to Orion.

Was flying back to base at lunch in supercruise and noticed another player popping up on radar leaving one of the extraction sites, was in a viper and noticed he was wanted. Didnt even check the bounty just swooped in interdicted him and took him down in like 20 seconds.

Poor sod tried to evade the interdiction so had a 30 second cooldown on his fsd, didnt even try to fire, just turned to run.

It was only after killing him I realized he only had a bounty of 600 credits. Felt really guilty afterwards Sad

*in most convincing Eric Cartman voice* Bad Jippy , BAD! Very Happy

I've gotten a 600 credit bounty myself once or twice, all it takes is for an AI ship to fly past while firing multi-cannons and bam, bounty.

It's not cool and I think the system needs to be changed to allow for a bit more leeway (maybe a sustained full second firing) before you get a bounty stuck on you.

I'm trying to decide whether to re-buy and pimp my Asp (oh yea, I said ), or just keep grinding for an Imp. Clipper, or better yet, Type 9.

After a hard day grinding I decided to treat myself and purchased an Imperial Clipper. Look at that friggin view! Only 168 cargo in combat load-out (I could fit a bit more if I sacrificed my shield cells - but with a 2 million re-buy cost that's not going to happen), which kinda pales in comparison to the Type 7.

 Spoiler:

I'm afraid to fly the thing out of the dock though, it's so wide. Now, when's FD introducing the expansion that lets me walk around my ship and...do things...to willing slave space women? Very Happy

That's what made the trip back a bit of a clincher. I warped into that ring and since I was too fast, and the window cracked, since I moved too fast (emergency stops always give a bit of hull damage). Had to forfeit a lot of extra creds by not exploring from then on, just make sure I get back in one piece. Razz

Basically this is Euro Truck Simulator 2 in space without any of the automation (no company)
+ MMO style grinding.

There are some redeeming qualities in this game, but they do not pay well enough to make it work.
