But most new protection schemes take a while before they get cracked and then it goes pretty fast for the other games using the DRM no?
(Or maybe that was back then with "classical" copy protections like SecuROM, Tages and Star-Force.)
Seems a 780/i5 is enough for near-constant 60 with max settings on PC while the game fails miserably on both consoles. It is very strange how DF didn't include the framerate overlay for the PC vs XX faceoff, but only on the PS4 vs XB one.
I don't think Deck13 has much experience with consoles and this would probably be their first attempt for XBO and PS4 so with the game designed primarily on PC for PC the porting results would be a bit lackluster compared to having a multi-platform compatible engine directly such as licensing Unreal Engine or something.
(I guess ideally you'd want a core branch for the game data and then a separate branch for Durango, Orbis and PC, perhaps even separate teams dedicated to each platform but that needs a larger development studio and more money.*)
(* Of course this doesn't guarantee good results either such as Ubisoft Kiev with it's PC version development of many of Ubisofts franchises - maybe they just need more time for each project? - or CAPCOM or Square depending on whom they hire such as QLOC for one project and doing it internally for another.)
Heh, well Deck13 screwed up the PC version of Venetica too... man that game was a mess Shame too as the game itself was really fun. I kept hoping for an improved version and was banking on the upcoming Steam release to fix a few things, but then the publisher filed for bankruptcy so the Steam release was cancelled.
Hmm yeah there's that too, thinking about it these smaller publishers probably don't have it easy either what with giants like Ubisoft and EA dominating the market.
Holy shit, even the first few SECONDS show how terrible the framerate is on the XBONE

That's not how slowdown works, KC. PC is still 60fps, XBONE is still 25-30.
You are wrong.
Eurogamer is always doing their comparisons the same way. They slow down both footages so the 60fps pc footage becomes 30fps (so its slowed 2 times) and console framerate respectively. In that case 15fps. They do that just to showcase relative difference between 60 and 30fps but showing how much frames are missing in slowed down 30fps... its kinda weird to do but it gets the point through

well no surprise there when most of the publisher's(stands for both DTP and City Interaction) portfolio is utter trash with rare exceptions

slowed down 60 fps is not equal to 30 fps in normal gameplay. Game speed is the same on both platforms lol, 60 fps means fluid motions, sub 30 means frame skipping - frame of animation doesnt connect with another one - instead theres some skipping which results in jagged motion, less frames = more skipping = more clunky animation, poor as fuck framerate = slideshow.
Theres nothing 'weird' in their comparison, it clearly shows the difference because some idiots are still saying that human eye cant see anything above 30 (or 24 if they read somewhere that this is tv framerate )
Exactly. Slowing a video playback speed by 50% isn't the same as cutting its framerate in half, you can still see the smoothness of the original input and the lack of dropped frames/choppiness, it's just running slower.
You know by the time some of you spend looking for a crack/download you could have easily earned money to buy the actual game.
Yes isodemos are great for testing out the actual game (usually no demo on pc) but seriously.... if you can't afford a PC game and you're an adult something is wrong...
Yes I also download sometimes (demo purposes)
Yes I buy cheap russian versions sometimes

But quality games deserves quality money.
You're forgetting where you're posting this...
If anyone here buys games, it's just a bonus.
Why? its always the same - some will cave in and buy it, some will scream wtf is release, some will not give a fuck and play something else, someone will troll/whine about people not buying games

Very true, but to me this is more than a warez forum, yes we all started out with warezing

Back to trolling bullshit again, are we? I'll make sure to download two copies.
I used to download nearly everything but with the move to digital platforms like Steam and the locked/encrypted preload data or other DRM methods preventing early leaks the only major benefit left is that it's free, which is still hugely important especially if you are having economical troubles to begin with.
(The actual hardware is also very expensive.)
The other thing is that so many games get rushed out and can require upwards of dozens of patches although with 3DM and Ali213 along with Cs.rin there's now some nice progress with providing updates to warez releases.
(And also the DLC content and other bonus stuff.)
Not really sure about piracy hurting sales or the business that much, most people who pirate likely would not have bought the game to begin with and some might even buy the game after trying out a "demo" version since actual game demos are getting a bit rare, at least on PC.
Will be interesting to see how gaming changes over the next couple of years, seems a lot of focus is on mobile and the "freemium" business as I think it's called, moving gaming online and requiring a internet connection for certain features is also starting to see some use. (The PS4 and XBO replacing the previous console generation is also good although do we get better games or just better looking games as a result?)

So it's that easy to earn money where you live huh? You just go out of the house and pick it from the trees, rob a few people on the street etc I suppose? How do you suppose someone earns 40$ if he/she has no job? You can't just force yourself into someone's home and be like "Hey I'll fix your ceiling light for 3$"
