Secondly, if you are experiencing bad frame-rate or crashes, please reduce your visual settings. Running on 'High' or 'Awesome' does require a good GPU, CPU and lots of RAM. And 'Medium' still looks very good!
And yes, we will keep optimising the game as much as possible. We are pushing Unity quite far, and it's not the most optimisable engine around, but if there are improvements to be made, our awesome artists and coders will make them. But it won't happen today or tomorrow: this stuff is complex, so if you can't run the game at all, you'll need a tiny bit of patience. |

If we could pop the source code open or similar to get a real insight into what the visual presets does for this game that would help, unfortunately Unity has those hard locked from the editor I believe so all you get in the actual game is those preset levels, at least they separated SSAO quality.
http://docs.unity3d.com/Manual/class-QualitySettings.html
(All those settings all tied to a single "preset" option.)

"awesome coders" ? hmpf.. it just needs a quick look at the registry entries this "awesome program" creates to see how skilled they are. Last time i saw something like this was when restoring stuff from a failed HDD.
Unity is made for mobile casual games and thats it where it belongs.
I am pissed.
I have spoken.

If a company has awesome coders they use a more powerful c++ based engine like Unreal, not Fisher Price "Make my first game" managed language based Unity shit, where you can smell its shit from the launcher itself and/or the quality options.

Don't trust me? Trust Tim Sweeney.
For some games, Unity is a good choice. If you're on a low budget with a small team. Or one person ... but the Longest Journey series deserves magical graphics.

Just a question about a game - should I play first game to understand this or not?

Also UE4 is like what? 9 $/Eur a month and 5% royalties or some such, CryEngine is 20 US/Eur a month.
(Special deals have to be made for developing for the console platforms but that does not apply here, plus as a smaller "indie" studio it seems to be a pretty good deal considering what game engine licenses can cost.)
Pretty sure both UE4 and CryEngine 3.6.x support Mac and Linux as well and both 32 and 64-bit OS's.
Not really sure if Unity is simpler or just easier to get started with, also not sure when they started development (If UE4 and such was available at that time.) so scrapping all that previous work and going to a new engine might not have been a option.
EDIT: Unity in comparison I think costs 4000$ or some such for the basic version but I could be wrong.

UE4 is $19pcm with 5% royalties, CryEngine is $10pcm without royalties (that's why many indie devs choose it lately)
There also some good, powerful engines out there, idk why so many devs choose Unity.

Yes, restarted the PC after installing, still same.
Edit: skipping the intro worked. Will check it on Youtube.
Thanks!
The way I see it, every life is a pile of good things and bad things. The good things don’t always soften the bad things, but vice versa, the bad things don’t always spoil the good things and make them unimportant.

You are right, how strange since I didn't back the game and thus shouldn't have those extras right?
(Or maybe that's what the Redeem Key function is for in-game and this is just a bonus to everyone who pre-ordered the game.)

This sucks. Thought i'd continue my playthrough of the first game instead of just jumping to chapters, but i've lost my save game after retardedly not backing up my save games last time i reinstalled windows. Fuck sake. Anyone know a site which explains the events of the first game? I'm sure the events of the first game is somewhat entwined in the story of the sequels in some way which will enrich my experience. Kinda only need to know the highlights though.
