Recommended are just copypasta from Wofl and absense minimum reqs just mean that they didnt even cared about optimizing it and cares about 4k/60 on ultra for reccommended or whateves

This reminds me of Deadly Premonition and Dark Souls 1 where the developers had poor experience in porting to PC.
1 and 2 are still amazing.

I feel your pain :/ Almost makes me wish I never bought the 78- and went straight into 980 with 4gb.

Just don't play or buy these games, even if you pirate it, all you do is just show them that you're cheap - obviously not always correct but thats what they'll believe.
Taking a stance against these horrible console ports is not giving them any attention at all.

there was a jump in vram requirement recently, we will see more and more games like this. don't be shocked when you see far cry 4, alien isolation, AC:U and other big games of fall 2014 recommending 4+GB of vram. devs have a lot of vram to work with on consoles.
so we will either get "next gen" ports from ps4/xbone with high vram requirements, or "optimized" ports from petty 360/ps3 versions.
this is just a jump due to new consoles, like it was when 360/ps3 games started coming out on pc. back then it was CPU cores, poeple on dual cores got royally fucked, and now it's vram (and cpu cores to some extent).

- the so-called next-gen games look like a poop on consoles with shitty framerate and blurry textures barely pushing to 900p\1080p at 30fps or even less regardless of memory available ( only 5GB of shared RAM available to developers overall btw)
- PC ports VRAM requirements have nothing to do with actual graphics quality rather with shitty optimization and blatant "get-a-new-$2k-video card-now-coz-we-are-lazy-motherfuckers-and-we-want-you-to-bend-over-and-take-it-up-the-arse-clapping-and-smiling" message

nothing will go wrong. first few games will take all the blame and then it will become norm for games to require more vram.

i guess with new consoles having around 6gb usable shared ram, we will possibly thx to "optimalizations" need around 6gb aswell in both system ram and vram

Obviously it's due to the consoles, but the problem is that the devs are taking the easy way out and just dumping everything into memory instead of utilising streaming or other memory management tweaks. One can't really fault them of course, since it's also a cheaper and a simpler way out - why would you devote time and resources on making something you don't really need?
But it does show how "second-rate" PC development really is in this case, since PCs generally expect a more balanced approach to memory utilization and no effort is being made to account for that.
This could be down to the "first wave" of titles, where they are not really getting the most of the hardware they have as much as they are simply taking advantage of the ability to simplify things it offers. Once we get to the stage where they will want to do more (and hopefully we will get to that stage) we might get back to something more sensible for PCs.
I am curious to see what the next big titles built on UE and Frostbite will require, since those engines are pretty good in terms of scalability and would serve as a good benchmark.

who in their right sate of mind release a game with a requirment of 6gb vram? do they not want to sell their game? do they really thing their game is that good for a user to buy a 600$+ card just for it ?

I wouldn't put it past them.
"I think Call of Duty resonates because it's believable and relatable," Sledgehammer Games cofounder Michael Condrey says.
Believable and relatable...Yep, sounds like Call of Duty

Man, I really hate next gen. Games don't look impressive but devs now have a reason to not optimize them.
360/ps3 era was fantastic because I could play everything on 360 or on pc with 5times the graphics and performance

Sin317-"im 31 years old and still surprised at how much shit comes out of my ass actually ..."
SteamDRM-"Call of Duty is the symbol of the true perfection in every aspect. Call of Duty games are like Mozart's/Beethoven's symphonies"
deadpoetic-"are you new to the cyberspace?"
