Artyom does check the ammo count on his own if you idle a bit with a rifle equipped, or rather he takes the gun and looks at the magazine which is hollow so you do see the bullet count.
(I don't think it works with the shotguns or the pistol but the pistol only has six bullets and the other shotgun has visible shells when loaded.)

He will occasionally flip the shotgun and touch the outer shells counting them too.

Awful! just after release they removed -50% discount for previous owners of the game. They expect us to pay full 20e for each of two redux games now.

They will not get a dime from me!
Ok maybe I would pay 1e, if they get in humble bundle. Very Happy

Metro Last Light Redux was anyway a glorified patch and overpriced even with discount, for existing owners. Unlike 2013 Redux which was a fair priced deal with discount.

whole year.......

They use PhysX 3.x yes, both games. Smile
(They use the exact same exe file and PhysX .dll file so only the assets differ.)

It's a x64 version (Game being 64-bit now.) with a version number of 3.3.1
(I have advanced PhysX turned off due to not having a Nvidia GPU - better yet a dedicated GPU for PhysX as seems optimal now - but from what I've seen so far it's mainly debris particles though possibly they also control fog/smoke with it now.)

EDIT: Seems that 3.3.1 is the most recent PhysX SDK available.

That's interesting, 3.3.1 is ridiculously recent so that would be the first time in 6 years that games aren't at least 18 months behind.

Just for the hell of it, turn advanced PhysX on and see how it runs? Because in 3.2 they actually properly started using multi core CPUs, with SSE and everything too Smile

Just tried 2033 with update 1 and 2.

On very high, tesselation very high, ssaa off, physx off at 1080p, it performs worse than original 2033 did on very high. Or worse than original LL.

On high with all setting the same as above, it runs the same or maybe a bit better than LL, so very good. And it looks much better.
And I can't see a difference between high/very high. Same with tesselation. Cant see difference between normal/very high.

The game still didn't hold up too much. Last light is much better paced. But still - great game

Someone on AnandTech reported that it cut framerate in half (On AMD GPU's / GPU's without CUDA support, it should run really well on NVidia cards.) and made the benchmark scene bug out but I'll give it a try as well to see how it is in the actual game. Smile

EDIT: Tried with advanced PhysX enabled, there is a performance hit but it's nowhere near the same as in the original Last Light, though particles also don't persist for very long before fading out.
(Fog effect also seems a bit lessened so it's possible they have a separate mode for GPU and CPU usage, pretty sure the game used to have a low and high setting for advanced PhysX come to think of it so it's probably running in a reduced mode without CUDA support.)

I can confirm that physX effects are running very well for me actually on amd

with PhysX enabled

disabled

see how the CPU usage is higher on the enabled screenshot, and yes i did check to see if the smoke actually moves with you when physx are enabled just to be sure Razz
i also saw a minimal performance hit when shooting debris and stuff, 1 or 2 frames at most

it's a Q9400 and HD6770 btw, running the game on High with no tessellation or SSAA

I think I can play Metro 2033 Redux on High* with my AMD 4890 (not extremely well of course), so maybe you can too Smile

Both games have been remastered in the latest 4A Engine, and boast two unique unique playstyles - Spartan and Survival - plus the legendary Ranger Mode.

For Metro 2033 Redux, Metro 2033 has been rebuilt using the newest version of the powerful 4A Engine, last seen in action in Metro: Last Light. That means advanced lighting, dynamic weather, higher detail for characters with improved animation, more dynamic destruction, and improved smoke, fire, and particle effect.

Metro: Last Light Redux has also received a upgrade, including new melee animations and the fan-requested ‘Check Watch’ and ‘Check Inventory’ features. All previously released Metro: Last Light DLC will be included in this Redux version.

The way I see it, every life is a pile of good things and bad things. The good things don’t always soften the bad things, but vice versa, the bad things don’t always spoil the good things and make them unimportant.

Sad

You can actually switch to medium if you still struggle, the difference surprisingly isn't huge in terms of image quality, but the framerate will skyrocket. Low settings on the other hand, they will be definitely noticeable. Razz
(Also, some SweetFX in these games really boosts the immersion, imo, since they suffer from the usual 'vaseline effect'/blurriness)

Yeah but that only happens if you're idling, and even then it's not the same thing. Would be much cooler if you could manually eject the magazine and check the cartridges Very Happy

The animation when artyrom rings the bell on that bicycle weapon is pretty funny Mr. Green

i've played all stalker games since 2007, beaten all the mods, I have close to 800 hours on stalker.

My opinion get stalker complete or ZRP (best experience and still maintain vanilla) then you can try the other mods, maybe lost alpha Smile
