I sense there is a people who didn't bother to read the thread but want to put their incredibly important opinion (as they think) on unrelated subject.

2.4 ?
Here my RTSS+hwinfo stats :
1920x1200, all maxed out.
3Gb VRAM used which is a lot I think.
I wonder how much would it use if I had higher resolution.. |
Yeah i just fired up the game and loaded my savegame to see, waited till everything was properly loaded and checked the number.
But remember, my SSAA is off (if that would cause any difference in these numbers in the first place?)

I sense a great disturbance in the thread
PS
Thief crashes when I try to take a screenshot with MSI afterburner(latest beta).
Does anyone have it working?

5 hours in...I gotta say..I LOVE IT. I'm enjoying it soo much more than Dishonored ( played it stealthy, knockouts 99% of the time ) and it's so atmospheric, and quite challenging @ master thief + slower movement + all aids off.
Donno what people say about the AI, I say it's hard. There are these 2-guard patrols, 2nd guard is like 1-2 metres behind the first one and I couldn't knock him out without having the first guard attack me. The damn bastard would turn around every time. I ended up avoiding them.

I usually play ghost.
Anyway, the main problem with the game for me its simple: Everything that i do is prescripted, i never actually think that im doing something new (sompething unique to my gameplay), thats usually easy to think when you see those rope arrows spots.
The other annoying thing, everything that i do i lose control of my character that breaker immersion for me, i like to be in control of my character. Dishonored was a great example of this, not everything was animated (Rope, Closing Doors, Getting Loot, Ledge Grab) but it felt awesome to run around on the roof of the buildings.

My point is that I don't see that dumb AI people kept complaining about. On the contrary, it's fine.
edit: forgot to mention I also got caught when trying to climb some ladders and the guards were like 10 metres away..The whole feeling of having to to hide and avoid them was fantastic.
I didn't even have to use blink to take em out in Dishonored. It was really easy.

From what I could see, both the games have fairly exploitable and predictable AI even on Very Hard/Master respectively. Though in Dishonored you had levels large enough to allow you to take different paths and avoid AI routes entirely without too much hassle. That game rewarded exploration and experimentation, it was very much sandboxy.
In Thief on the other hand you can rarely navigate freely through levels and the linear design often puts you in direct contact with guards, because you can't just move wherever you want. It's a different scope entirely, despite the initial similarity, and gives you the sensation that Thief is a "harder" game when in fact it's just the level design which is artificially contrived.
And for the love of Odin, don't play Dishonored on Normal . Very Hard with no upgrades whatsoever is the way to have some sneaky fun without feeling invincible.

AI in thief 1-2 was pretty dumb too.

@Interinactive
OK. let me rephrase. EVERY single motherfucking stealth game out there has problems with AI.
Happy?
And I'm most certainly not defending anything, especially not the new Thief. It's just a sad fact.

With the type of hardware we have now the AI system could get a pretty decent boost as I see it, of course with the type of average casual gamer that seems to be the target audience these days that's probably unlikely to happen just yet.
(Make the game simpler, simplify the controls, make it easier to get into the game and frequently reward the player, plus achievements and collectibles - kinda oversimplifying things here with that description though.)
Then again when you spend millions on marketing alone I guess you do need the game to be profitable and sell hundreds of thousand of copies.
(Again simplifying things, seeing how Square Enix targeted something like nine million sales with Deus Ex Human Revolution which is amazing for a well established AAA game - which this was not - I guess the industry is a bit different now then how it was a number of years ago, but what do I know about such things.)

The graphics are fine and certainly up to date. Crysis 3 for example looks better but besides that not many others. The Ai is nothing to criticize in my opinion. They walk their routes, they talk, they hear or see you and try to chase you. Not too hard like running around crazy though which is good. Otherwise it would end quickly. Wasn't different in Dishonored or any other game though. Of course sometimes enemies climb ladders and shit to make it more difficult but well....fuck it!
Great game. And that it got 6-7/10 only means Nvidia paid them to fuck the game due to that Mantle and TrueAudio shit. Or does Nvidia have that TrueAudio fuckshit as well?

German PcGames says 85/100 which in my opinion fits more or less. But under 70? That's just bullshit high ten. By the way I didn't find one single bug yet! Also sth.!

@beyond: Mhhh stuttering? Wtf didn't notice that. Maybe it's another OS or driver fuck problem who knows. And my 4 cores are fucked through by about 60-90%. The game doesn't do that?

Yeah no stutter here, i guess it's just for random people happening, which is really shitty, because finding the cause will be much more difficult

The stuttering happens mostly for those who have less VRAM than the game's settings can handle. So chances are people with 3-4 GB VRAM won't notice this anomaly even if they use the highest settings. The game uses more than 3 GB VRAM on the highest settings which is brutally absurd if you think about it, it just doesn't look that good...
Stuttering is not normal (users should only see a decrease in fps, not stutter), it's a bug that needs to be fixed.
