i only crashed like 2 times in total. Imho, it's a very minor issue (especially compared to all the other crap that keeps going wrong lol).

Quote: | It turned out that the issues many of you are seeing with trade ships not working correctly is not one bug but a whole series of connected problems. After resolving the first issue with 1.17, more problems became apparent. This is the reason we are now testing the next patch 1.18 a lot longer than the other patches. We can not afford a very indepth test at this time, because too many of you are waiting for this fix, but things are looking good and chances are that this update will be available before the weekend.
I do not want to give silly excuses here. Of course you deserve a bug free game, but you may ask why these trade problems were not uncovered during testing: We had a group of testers dedicated to testing our economy over a long period of time. These guys used a special version of the game which allowed them to run the entire economy at a higher speed. It seems that most of these problems we now see did not happen with this time acceleration. Meanwhile these problems also do not happen early on in the game or if you (like most testers do) have to restart the game frequently. | This is so stupid on so many levels, that I'm surprised they even had the brains to have anyone testing at all.

Dear sir/madam,
I have pre-ordered X:Rebirth, the next installment of the X-series planning to enjoy a fully working game in my free time. The game is a full €49,99 and refuses to function satisfactorily on my machine. I have a EVGA 780 GTX and an i7 processor with sufficient RAM (and fast enough RAM). The game registers a wimpy 10 fps most of the time on the most recent drivers from nvidia, older drivers have also not helped. The game also crashes to desktop constantly and there amount of bugs is staggering. The game is completely unplayable in my opinion so I would like to request a refund, which I am entitled to under Dutch law. This product is in my opinion non-conform the values and attributes which were marketed to me when I bought this product, under article 7:5 jo 7:17 jo 7:24 BW(Dutch Civil Law) I request a refund of my purchase.
I hope you will comply to my request.
Kinds regards,
My name huehue
(I am currently using windows 8.1 if you were wondering)

Hello,
Thank you for contacting Steam Support.
Unfortunately, we cannot offer a refund for this transaction.
As with most software products, we do not offer refunds or exchanges for purchases made on our website or through the Steam Client. This includes, but is not limited to, games, Early Access Games, software, gifted or traded purchases, downloadable content, subscriptions, and in-game items/currency.
Please review Section 3 of the Steam Subscriber Agreement for more information.
http://www.steampowered.com/index.php?area=subscriber_agreement
Please try the following to troubleshoot any issues.
If you are currently running Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8, please complete the instructions in the following link:
Windows 7, Windows 8, and Vista Troubleshooting
http://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=5688-IFHZ-2170
The remaining steps apply to *all* versions of Windows.
Please also verify the GCF for this game as outlined here:
Verifying Game Cache Files (GCF)
http://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=2037-QEUH-3335
Note: Files may fail to verify. This is normal and can be ignored.
Then test the issue.
If you still have difficulty, you may also need to manually run secondary installers required by this game.
Exit Steam entirely.
Browse to your X-Rebirth installation folder (Usually C:\Program files\Steam\Steamapps\common\X Rebirth\)
Run the following installers:
...X Rebirth\\_CommonRedist\DirectX\Jun2010\DXSETUP.exe
...X Rebirth\\_CommonRedist\vcredist\2010\vcredist_x86.exe
...X Rebirth\\_CommonRedist\vcredist\2010\vcredist_x64.exe
Reboot your computer and test the issue again.

Dear Robbie,
Sadly this is not conform to European law or Dutch law, to which steam is subject due to selling its product under a local license. Please refer to European Consumer Law, particularly about online purchases and the guideline of early refunds, to which I am entitled because I flagged my problems with the purchase early.
Secondary to that I would like to point to article 7:5 jo 7:17 jo 7:24 BW(Dutch Civil Law) as I said in my earlier post, you are obliged by law to refund me my product since it is not up to par.
I am sorry for causing you trouble, however this purchase simply is not acceptable, the product does not work as described and is simply unusable.
Kind regards,
My name again

Hello,
The regulations you are citing do not apply to digital distribution subscriptions, electronic games, or downloadable content.
System requirements are indicated at the bottom of the Steam Store page for all games, and on the package for retail copies.
Please ensure your computer meets the minimum system requirements prior to completing your purchase.
As with most software products, we do not offer refunds or exchanges on games, DLC or in-game items purchased on our website or through the Steam Client.
As a one-time customer service gesture we issued you store credit for the amount of your purchase into your Steam Wallet
The credit can be used for future Steam purchases.
To view your current available Steam Wallet balance:
- Log in to your Steam account.
- The current available balance will be listed in the upper right hand corner next to "[Your username]'s Account".
- In most cases, the new funds will automatically be displayed in your account.
- If this has not happened, please allow two hours for the transaction to fully complete.
Please note in the future that Steam purchases, per the Steam Subscriber Agreement, are not refundable - this store credit was issued as a one-time customer service gesture.
If you have any further questions, please let us know - we will be happy to assist you.
|
Besides the fact that what he said about digital purchases not applying to these laws (debatable at best), I got a full refund.

Steam falls under the Luxembourg law unless the laws of the country you reside in give you better protection. But of course they will twist it around because they know most people won't push further after an initial no.
That being said... it should always be within a reasonable time after purchase

Well in most countries a reasonable time is within 3 weeks after purchase.
