Welcone to nfohump.
Hmm, to be honest I'm not sure I noticed the issues you were talking about:

Few minutes dicking around in Arkham Origins, note the unstable video even though on screen it looked absolutely fine and smooth. Also note how it seems to be running faster. |

You mean when you were spinning camera around in the beginning? But isn't it supposed to speed up after few second of constant spinning around?

No, after that. When I'm running around. Looks like it's played back at 140-150%, which makes sense - as that's the speed at which it is rendering (80-90 FPS). As well as some strange slowdowns, caused by the same phenomenon, but in reverse.

Is it the same with vsync on? I didn't notice.
UPD: of all the people it seems like you are the only one who notices that.

Yes.
If you don't see the fact that it is accelerated and that at several points the image jumps (read: it skips a good 40 frames or so, probably to sync up video timing with frames coming out of the pipeline) then I fear you have been struck with the KC syndrome, where framerates and smoothness are mythical creatures

Very solid and mature argument.
Anyone can see what he is talking about? If so, please explain where, what time and what exactly do you see and what is wrong with it, I'd love to hear that. I asked the same question on 4chan but no one noticed anything wrong with video.

If you have a video card prior than GTX 600, you can't run it... right?

Yeah. Your card must have NVENC.
1) Lenovo Legion 7 (AMD Ryzen 7 5800H, RTX 3080 16Gb, 32Gb DDR4, SSD 1TB +2TB
2) SFFPC (streaming via Moonlight+ Sunshine)

That video, when I'm running around on the roof, looks faster than it actually does in-game. Just look at the very start, when he stands up: that takes like 400-500ms in the video, but in-game that animation takes close to a second. Another really obvious one is when I first get to the roof, then grapple up to the left girders. That moves twice as fast as it does in-game as well. The entire running around sequence plays back at higher than normal speed.
If you do not see that, you either haven't played the game and have no idea what those animations look like or you're the kind of person that doesn't see microstuttering and framerate differences.
I wish I had some comparison material from DxTory or could make any.

I'm very sensitive to the sluttering or framedrops and the first to complain, however, I don't see a trace of what are you talking about on the video. A comparison would be really good. You can run benchmark and record it with both tools and then just put videos together, for easy comparison.

I'm not sure I see it.... it DID seem he stood up faster than he should have, but overall it was kind hard for me to detect anomalies you mentioned.Kein is right about more in-depth comparison.

So is there an alternative with a "shadow" function like this? Would be pretty epic.
Shadowplay is basicly worthless until it supports Windowed games, who in their right mind plays in Fullscreen these days!

Yes. There's Shadow Time (which is what everybody's talking about) that records up to 20 minutes of your last play session in the background, but there's also Manual mode that let's you set a hotkey (default is alt-F9) to record for hours, if that's your thing.
Edit: I just realized I misread your post. I thought you asked "Is there an alternative TO the "shadow" function". Sorry about that.

I'm sorry, but is that comment supposed to be laced with sarcasm? Because if so, it totally went over my head. What self-respecting PC gamer doesn't play in full-screen? Why would you run anything other than Solitaire in windowed mode?
Tried this out with DX: HR Directors Cut - have it set to High, 10 minutes, and saving output to an external WD. So far I'm very impressed with it. No noticeable performance drop on my GTX 770 and i7 930 @3.52ghz.
It does suck that the file-size is capped at 4gb and there are no advanced options to tweak. However, I'll have to see how this holds up with a more demanding/horribly optimized game. I'll try it out with BF4 SP in a bit.
I can never be free, because the shackles I wear can't be touched or be seen.

Because alt+tab from Windowed Fullscreen/Borderless is about 100 times faster than from Fullscreen? Also Lightboost works easiest if you run your games in Windowed.
So yeah, Windowed > Fullscreen, no sarcasm. |
What does it mean? Alt+Tab from FS takes like 1 second no? How is that slow???
