Finally came across the FPS draining church Laughing

I'm using autohotkey for remapping the controls but some of the "tricks" the game uses in its control scheme are still making me want to stab the developers in the eye! Mad

Nice RPG game so far, beside the weak graphics. Only the fight system is not exactly my taste.
It takes some time to learn to know all the gaming mechanics.

One thing I do not get is about the "governing" attributes: For example why should I raise "Dexterity" if its only effects is to raise "Blacksmith" and "Lockpicking"? When I raise "Blacksmith" and "Lockpicking" SEPARATE it costs LESS adventure points than to raise the governing attribute "Dexterity". That makes no sense. It should be exactly the opposite, shouldnt it? Confused

As for "why"? The primary attributes govern the maximum level you can attain with the skills. So if your Dexterity is lower than 13, for example, you won't be able to raise Blacksmith/Lockpick above rank 3... etc etc.

Definately sounds interesting. I'll have to try this as soon as I find some spare time.

"collecting" the enemies, then using ice lance (upgrade with aoe) and the hammer skills = more awesome Very Happy

Yes at the vendor go into the junk tab, then press the button there.
But ingredients are classified as junk too, wtf?

Also i collected so many items like ore, or summoning ingredients that are in the junk tab too, but are not classified as that. Can you use the items for anything?

I don't quite agree tbh. Even without sweetfx it looks very decent.(at least in the catacombs where I am atm)

What I don't like is lack of interactivity, kinda strange combat ( how do I parry on a keyboard?), and pulled out of someone's ass "brilliant" idea that magic recharges only through melee strikes. And because of this idea Im kinda lost - I prefer mage characters and and as it turns out I need to dish out a nice melee damage and to be a skilled warrior in order to get mana..what attributes/ skills Im supposed to take then, huh?
Atm I only upgraded blacksmith/open locks Very Happy

Everything seems to be thrown in the junk tab, ore and ingredients too. Since I can't save manually, I'm scared to test whether "sell all" actually means " sell junk". Doesn't make much sense really.

All items that automatically go under the Junk tab (with exception of red quest items that cannot be sold anyway) are not used for anything other then selling to a merchant for money. All ingredients actually used in alchemy go into the Potions tab, not Junk tab.

In the inventory, yes, but not in the merchant window. All ingredients/ore/summoning/junk are lumped together in the one sell/buy tab.

That fast talk option only gives a bit of bonus AP there (Those points for upgrading stuff.) but it doesn't affect the outcome in any meaningful way unless something happens much later on in the game which I've not progressed far enough for yet.

Some NPC's will react favorably depending on your decision, others will condemn you for doing that same choice so there's no clear "best" way, it's all pretty gray or how to say. Smile
(And most choices seem to have both good and bad points.)

But, it is still worth upgrading it? Like blacksmith, for instance.
Is perception a useful skill?

All skills are useful, blacksmithing helps with traps for example which is very important, perception let's you find small caches of loot with some very nice items, lore let's you find important bits of info and journal (codex) entries, medicine and fast talk work great during dialogue to achieve better outcomes or gain other rewards.

And so on, so far all of them have been useful and there's numerous areas in each location that can benefit from one or several of these skills so spending points on each can be very rewarding though it makes it difficult to truly specialize.
(But there are many accessories like rings and amulets that improve these skills too so you can use that to your advantage.)

EDIT: As a example there's a cellar in the city where you can use perception to spot additional supplies and a locked door can be lockpicked to bypass a area, traps can be disarmed to get through a pathway unharmed and lore can be used to gain additional info about the area and I forgot if it was medicine or what it was called but using that you can pick a few plants in the area for ingredients or material to sell.
(Which you can use haggle to gain better prices from the merchants when doing said trading.)

(And that's just a small location you can explore while passing through.)

It's certainly not for everyone and it might even have been rushed a bit, from checking old images the game appears to have gone through at least four major revisions and probably some minor ones too in between.

This in 2009.
http://www.ag.ru/games/dark-eye-demonicon/screenshots/262128

A bit later in 2009 it looked like this.
http://www.ag.ru/games/dark-eye-demonicon/screenshots/302031

In 2011 is started coming together.
http://www.ag.ru/games/dark-eye-demonicon/screenshots/396041

Then in 2012 things changed again.
http://www.ag.ru/games/dark-eye-demonicon/screenshots/420347
(With a few smaller tweaks as time went on http://www.ag.ru/games/dark-eye-demonicon/screenshots/431481 )

And was then refined into what we have now.
http://www.ag.ru/games/dark-eye-demonicon/screenshots/424214

EDIT: Kinda rare to see a game change like that these days, ~2006 or so a lot of things changed with the X360 and PS3 being introduced but not many games have went through so many overhauls, or at least not from what I know. Smile
(Sometimes delay is good though, early Half-Life images looked pretty different from the release product to name a old example, to name something a bit more recent Gothic 3 looked like a cheap CGI movie initially.)

Ugh... I'm done for now. Neutral
The checkpoint save system, the moronic controls, the performance issues at the camp and the weird way in which most of the inventory areas work are all doing my head in.

Hopefully it will get properly patched and fixed.

There probably was a few tweaks, there's no screenshots posted on that website since mid-2012 and those last images appear to be from the X360 version thus the poorer texture detail and such.

You think the design of the game will change? Yeah, right. You finished Mars War Logs ffs Razz

I'm up to the point where I have to fight that one evil dude, I think the story is average and the storytelling is really awkward/shit. My game is missing the awesome story part Sad
