but BF4 is still in my origin game and I just finished preloading it

Think it's possible that their database got fucked up and we're got a free game as the result of that. But I wouldn't be so sure yet, as I was charged for the premium and I placed the order for it at the same time as the game.
edit: Two different orders thought. Not in one order.

Just got an email in Spanish they are processing my BF4 + Premium and telling me I can play 29/10 lol. (Note how I am billed by EA in Geneva, Switzerland, viva Mexico lol).

Same for me ordered in August and now not it has product code (before XXXXX's) and dates. Spoke to a rep again and he said the order didn't go through after providing the order number yet he couldn't 100% guarantee me that game won't be removed at a later date. I was given a phone number as he couldn't help further with it. What a mess, what a mess.

I pre-ordered back in April and don't have the Product Code in Origin. My Battlelog shows Premium, but not the actual game. I guess I need to start the support roulette.

Yeah, that's what I thought. So far all people reporting success stories here are people who bought the game after the store and billing system changes. I think for now all of us early pre-orderers are fucked up, that will teach us I guess  |
I guess I won't be able to play this game anytime soon then  . Got my order processed and charged back in September from the old store, then refunded and cancelled after some weeks for unknown reasons, although the game is still there greyed out with all the X's and no ability to preload. What am I supposed to do now..  |

I think they just start "solving" issues with any bullshit they can, when it gets busy. If you contact them when there's no major release, they're usually pretty good.

To try to make this clear. Is the pre-load/play date only based on where you are connected from? Or is it also based on where you bought the key?
I'm thinking about buying the key locally(europe), preload on the 28th, but then connect to vpn to play on the 29th? Would that even work?

Ok shit finally popped up in my Origin...
Now to the question:
Can you just start VPN/close and preload? Or do you need the VPN to be enabled all the time during preload?

I just logged into origin with flyvpn started the preload then just closed vpn down and the download continued on. Don't pause the download tho or it wont work just shut vpn down and origin will just keep downloading.
