Why go to the far east? Laughing We had fair share of derps claiming this is a feature, and I doubt all of them were from Korea. Smile

A "next gen!" Dawn of War? Man, just hearing the words "next gen" in regards to any franchise these days fills me with dread.

I like to zoom in and view details on units and the battle carnage but it better not be a third person RTS/FPS hybrid offshot of their Space-Marine game. Razz

(...) a much larger strategic component to it, more of a global battle going on with little tactical things (...)

Sounds goog, but it can go so many different ways...
The "next generation" just means next iteration or next game in the series so its actually not miss used, and he didn't use the term "acessible" ..so no bad news so far Neutral

Yeah...they're milking to franchise too much lately. Homeworld 3 or COH 2 would be nice and since they're still a PC gaming developer I don't see the problem in creating either one of those games.

The next Homeworld could be epic if they expand the scale of the game inline with today's tech.

And what exactly is that? Laughing DoW1? Please. DoW2 + exp. campaigns were much better than anything of the orignal + exps.

1. Is Warhammer.40000.Dawn.of.War.II.Retribution.Update.1-SKIDROW enough to play Retribution campaign with not so many crashes?

2. Where to find updates for Warhammer_40000_Dawn_Of_War_II_Chaos_Rising-Razor1911 ? JBeckman's links are all dead... and how exactly is it buggy regarding single-player campaign only?

1. Yes, I finished all 7 campaigns with just that 1 update.

2. It's not really buggy. Check that russian forum for updates on both games.

Yyyeah... It's also a shame, that no one plays vanilla Starcraft, without Brood War... Rolling Eyes
OBVIOUSLY no one plays DoW2 when Retribution is MUCH better. And then there's the elite mod, which makes everything EVEN more balanced.

Yet both pale in comparison to Dawn of War.

MP-wise - no. DoW1 was about spamming units and losing a lot of them but not caring, because you could easily get more or reinforce them in the middle of the battle.
DoW2 requires a bit more thought. You have less units, which are more expensive, so losing them is a major blow. You need to take care of your forces and micromanage them more, chose the right gear for your current situation and use the skills wisely.
DoW1 did a good job at forcing the players to fight for map control by scattering requisition points around the map. The problem was: listening posts built on them worked as static defenses, so you could hide behind them, and power generators were still built inside the base.
In DoW2 however every resource point is well outside your base, so you can't just cap two and start turtling and teching, because the enemy's going to have quite a lot more resources, so he's likely to overrun you or tech up even quicker.
Also, in DoW1 pretty much no one bothered with fighting over control points. In DoW2 however, the CoH-styled Victory Point system forces the players to fight over map control even more.
But people still say, that DoW1 was better. In what way? Because you could build buildings? I don't think Space Marines bother with building barracks when fighting xenos...

I actually did mean Retribution. There aren't that many people that play Retribution either.

That's because most of the people, who actually know what to do in the game, switched over to the Elite Mod, which currently is big enough (Grey Knights, w00t!) to be treated like another expansion pack. Give it a try. There might not be huge crowds throughout the day, but in the evenings there's always at least a couple of servers open.
