... you just found out that your wife is cheating on you with a very close friend. To top that - what if both have kids and are married a mere two years?! And what if you know it`s not only sex (bad enough...)?
Yep - My life is just going down the shitter... (not that it`s not fucked up enough already...)

Well if your planning a divorce. Get as much info about the affair as possible before saying anything. It will be hard. Also make sure you file first. Live off cash is you can so there are no bank records she can use. If you have joint accounts, as soon as you file for divorce, empty the accounts, get all new accounts. Divorce is nasty, just been through a very rough year and a half. She took me for over 500K.

I would gather the evidence to support this, you gotta be sure. And then you can go through divorce.
I know I could never forgive or forget if someone cheated on me (in your case it's even worse since it's your wife, and you have kids).
I don't get the cheating part. I never will. If things aren't going good, then ppl need to talk, and if it's not working, then part ways.
Cheating is just slimy thing. I have no sympathy for the cheaters (this includes the other side, especially if it's your 'friend').

Sucks to hear that dude.
But please, whatever you do, think of your kids first. If you return the favour or do other nasty shit, chances are she'll get them and they'll resent you. Or worse, one of them will resent her, another will resent you. Divorcing is fine, I have plenty friends with divorced parents; but some of them also were denied contact with one of their parents/siblings until later life and they all hate that. They don't give a rat's ass that their parents divorced, but actually losing one sucks.
That's assuming your kids are the most important part of your life and you don't hate them of course
