heads up for those whose mods are either abandoned or still haven't updated to 1.9.
if you use SKSE to lauch skyrim, no need to go into offline mode. just disable auto update for skyrim and SKSE will bypass it on launch.

Hmmm, so a ninja beta update of 14MB (1.9.32.0) auto-installed on Steam and now I need a new SKSE. I wonder if there's patch notes for the new beta.

I saw the cracked update today and decided to install Dragonborn (also completed New Vegas for the first time last night, so decided to wipe the dust off of Skyrim)
Any new mods in the past 3-4 months worth getting?
Lastly, I have 165,000 gold.
Anyone know of a good gold sink mod? Something to spend tons of money on (elite weapons maybe?)

I have to give it to Bethesda, they're providing great support. A random guy in the Steam forums posted about a bug where some NPCs were sleeping with their eyes wide open and in less than a day it was fixed with this new beta

I know you are a glass is half full guy, but I gotta point out that this bug was reported by many poeple before patch 1.9 went live and was in beta phase.
I went to 1.9 since the major mods were updated for it, and then i realized it broke cutthroat merchants, and parts of morrowloot dealing with vendors.
Im guessing when they fixed the bug with vendors not selling high level spells, they changed some part of code that these mods used.
Luckily, im very near my journey in skyrim, so I can overlook the broken economy and i won't abuse easy access to master level mage robes, since I already have the one I need from actual exploration.
took me 140 hours to find master robes of destruction, and now a lowly mage is selling two of them in winterhold. what a slap in the face
The only problem is, if iever want to replay skyrim with my choice of mods, ill have to get the yarr version. I doubt cuthroat merchants that was updated in december 2011, will get patched for 1.9. Steam should really allow people to use any version they want.

yep, and we also must take in consideration the scope of skyrim. rpg's are probably the most difficult genre to patch. the enormous amount of content and variations is just beyond belief.
Im more mad at steam and their gestapo update policy then bethesda. I understand that support has a much easier job when everyone is forced to update, but there needs to be an option to stay unuapdated, even if that voids support.
i got 150 hours in skyrim so far, and i expect at least another 20ish to get dark brohood, thief guild and main quest, so I can't complain too much and thats even without DLC's.
back to the game

Get the texture pack combiner from nexus for graphic overhaul. It may be a little outdated, so use only the compatible mods listed there and add the rest via wrye bash/modmanager after it. If you decide to use a lot of graphics mods, I would recommend doing texture optimization of the game .bsa files and especially the HRDLC files. It prevents a lot of stuttering.
For a complete lore friendly experience I would suggest this guide: http://wiki.step-project.com/STEP:2.2.3

Yeah there's some pretty unique projects available by now.
(Such as this climate overhaul for example - http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/33017 )
