makes me cry in shame for the pc industry, i have still yet to see a game with trees with single leaves blowing in the wind like in the 3dmark 2001 nature scene ... and this is 2013 ... roflol ... and it took us 10 years with a frostbite engine to get the destruction physix from the max payne scene... xbox FUCK YEAH
the ninja cats destruction n stuff looks cool, guess i can enjoy it in games in 2023 with xbox 5

It's going to change with the next generation, at least the next 3 years
Only thing what i want to see from next-gen is physics based destruction (meaning that you can blow everything to the fucking pieces, not some shitty scripted crap and couple bits flying). Then ofcourse very high quality textures. That is all i want.
Leaves make you cry? The fact that still not every game does proper dynamic lighting, soft shadows and other basic things makes me sad. What really makes me cry is the fucking abysmal texture quality we get in 99% of all games - including Crysis 2, where they came afterwards in a goddamn "HD" texture pack.

Original Red Faction. It's amazing nobody has actually managed to do it since. Back then we had Pentium2/Pentium3/Celerons and Geforce 2/3/Kyro II/Matrox cards.

I really hope so, but if you look back at the transition between the PS2/Xbox era and this current one, it's not a good scenario. A big change of mentality is needed, with innovative ideas and somebody finally able to think outside the box, otherwise we'll have the same corridor shooters and cover-based clones only with better textures and graphics...and Kinect v2.0

It has nothing to do with physics tho, but it was impressive back then, and even now that you could do such deep hole that you die there (with explosives) Guerrilla/Armageddon has somewhat nice physics based collapsion and stuff (basically meaning this kind of destruction, but more complex and more physics objects). Battlefield 3 "destruction" is partially physics based and more scripted, doesnt look impressive at all, but better than nothing tho (tho close quarters maps destruction looks pretty nice).
Imagine Battlefield with this This i want to see in games.
