What is it that you don't understand? Smile

The installation is like W7, the new interface takes 6-7 minutes getting familiarized with and used to (90% of the OS is just like before), the activation is 3 commands tops via CP as Admin (having the third and final one as optional). Smile

It's not necessary that I don't understand, it's that reading through all those topics, all of them full of different views, make me wonder which one is actually the "good" one, people having trouble finding KMS servers online.

Also (got the version you mentioned) it also have the WMC? (not that I want it)

Use these: win8kms4.mooo.com and win8kms.no-ip.info. They always redirect you to one of the KMS servers that is online at the time of activation.

WMC can only be installed on W8 Pro as an add-in which you buy through the Windows Store. I think there was another way of installing it, but forgot what it was exactly.

So once I do the "activation" through one of that servers, Windows won't bother me for another 6 months with shitty pop'ups about activation and so on, so far that's my only concern, anyway once at 6/7 months I do re-install the OS.

Yes. Once the 6-month period expires, Windows won't lock itself. The watermark at the bottom right corner will reappear and you'll have a "Windows is not activated" message within Action Center and in Computer/Properties (you can use Windows indefinitely with the watermark; no function/module/part of it will be locked/restricted). Smile And you don't have to re-install, you just repeat the activation steps again and it'll get activated again. Smile

So i manage to get this program cracked, but this actually uses your community profile played games in order to create the list.. Games i didn't play yet are not in there...
So basically kinda useless since it doesn't use steam directly..

http://www.guru3d.com/news_story/more_info_on_windows_blue.html

Quote:

Even though Windows 8 has only been on the market for a short time we already know Microsoft is hard at work on the next version of the OS. The project is codenamed "Windows Blue" and is expected to launch next summer bringing improvements and new features to Windows 8 as well as debuting a new yearly update cycle for Microsoft's OS.

There now seems to be a bit more info on the next version of Windows due to someone that posted on a Taiwanese forum. Members of that forum have identified the user as a Microsoft official so there might be some truth to what he's saying but of course you should take this with a grain of salt.

He is supposedly running an alpha version of the next Windows with the version number 9622. Surprisingly he calls this Windows 9 though judging from that version number ( currently Windows 8 is at 9200 ) we think he's actually talking about Windows Blue, which is supposed to retain the Windows 8 branding once it hits markets.

According to him this next version of Windows will keep the Metro visuals and Start Screen, so no surprises there. However, we are expecting some changes, with users being able to customize their Start Screen more easily with more resizable tiles a la Windows Phone 8.

Another tidbit of info on the UI front is that the Desktop will still be present but it will undergo even more flattening, so perhaps the taskbar will finally stop being translucent and the whole thing will be a bit more cohesive.

Lastly he mentions there will be an update to the kernel which will reach version 6.3. Windows Blue is supposed to bring a few deep changes to the OS and upgrading the kernel does indeed fit the bill.

(Yearly OS updates? sigh...)

That's because people these days, are even worse sheeple then people before.
Just because a couple people say it's shit with some shitty reasons behind it, the sheeple (masses) follow their every word...

After a couple of weeks using it, i can say with full confidence that this Windows version isn't as bad as people think, and by far not as buggy as Vista was on release (yet i still used it)...

Hmm, people aren't educated enough. Tell those people that there is a small app called StartIsBack . Then I gues the statistics will be positive.

People who aren't idiots (Like myself seeing as i bought it) understand that this OS is the first step in what might become a complete overhaul of how we know Windows in order to make a complete cross platform experience. Sure, the Metro is optional this time, but who says it won't be forced the next time? or the time after that.

For me they proved this by FORCING away the Start menu. Basically saying the OS you have should be EXACTLY as they want it.

Anyway, if Win8 succeeds it will only get worse. If this OS succeeds it will only tell Microsoft that the common man loves Metro and things will go head down from that way.

I really hope i'm wrong.

Windows 8 is definitely not a success. Of course it sells, it is a Windows after all, and Microsoft are forcing their foot and not allowing new PCs to sell with Windows 7 (at least not directly). But Windows 8 is really not a great seller (I think it is behind Vista Laughing ).

Also, let's not forget, Microsoft gets it's revenue bulks from Enterprise. Unless Microsoft overtakes iPad and Android as the most selling tablet out there, their bulk will still come from Enterprise. And Enterprise will not be using this Metro shit. So if they do even more to remove it in Windows 9, it will be really sad to see Microsoft go. Laughing

Seeing as we can use Win8 as we used the older OS's, what will this sale tell Microsoft? That people now want Mac's? pads? and aren't really interested in good old Windows PC's anymore or does it tell them that people don't want new turds like this forced down their throats?

I guess only time will tell for when they share their future plans with us. I'm not confident it will be in my interests at all.

I think low sales and awful reviews tell Microsoft exactly that - that people are not happy.

When this happened with Vista, Microsoft worked their ass off to improve things and present the new Vista (Windows 7) in good light.

But how do you present a new Windows 8 in good light? It is possible (multiple Metro apps running in windows, start menu on desktop, etc), but that won't happen.

Microsoft should have just stayed out of the Tablet business and focused on desktops and console only. They are too late in game and will never catch up. They should back out now before its too late and improve on Windows 7 for Desktop only.

"they are too late in game and will never catch up"

No, this is not the case, tablets come from PDA, MS had an OS for those devices before anyone even tought of the name iphone or android..
What they did was wrong steps with creating Windows Phone 7, it took way too long (my Diamond was still on 6.5 (6.1 official)) when there was already the first Android and iphones. Then even shitloads of more got released on Windows mobile 6.5...
Then the mistake with Windows Phone 7 that they can only run on single core devices, this would had never worked in the long run for them and don't know why the fuck they decided not to fix this.

And loads more..
But your statement that they are too late in game and shit is just plain wrong.

At the end of the day there should be a choice weather or not to have a Start button or Start screen. Let people ease into the new Windows over a little time not just throw them in the deep end. Not everyone is a tech guru and enjoys to fiddle around.

I'm yet to find any of my real world friends who actually like Windows 8. All of them generally say it's not for them and got a copy of 7 and wiped 8 of their systems forever.

I understand that some people will say that it's easy to understand/use. Hell I find it easy to use etc but even I don't like it. People are use to the Start button for example, know where their programs are and most just click on their start button and navigate to their program. Simple. Having to actually type in the name of the program you want to run is a pain. What happens when you want to run something that you've not run for a while and you forget the damn name ? Give me the Start button any day. Least I can have a mooch threw it until I remember the name of the program I'm looking for. The only thing I ever really type into the Start button is cmd. Can't really think of anything else lol.

Yes there are addon programs that place a Start button for Windows 8 and that's great but there should be an option Microsoft has in place to choose between Start screen / Start button.
