Anyone who defends that kind of "make it now, rip it out and sell it as DLC later" practice (especially when the content is actually THERE on the disk) is a fucking cunt. Simple as that.

Except that he's simply pointing out that there's really no difference between it being on the disk or on their servers somewhere. It's their work regardless - and the consumer can decide for himself if he wants to support it or not.
Now, I HATE DLC with a passion - and I think it's pure greed. But whether it's developed before or after release - it's still just work that may or may not be worth it to the individual.
Also, it's almost never the choice of the developer. It's a publisher thing, like most kinds of greed infesting the industry.
If you call people a cunt for recognising something pretty obvious, then you're a bigger cunt yourself.
The biggest cunt of all is the one who willingly supports DLC by paying for it - because he's as guilty as the publisher - and even more stupid. Unless, of course, he/she really thinks that DLC is a positive.
Personally, I almost never buy DLC - and when I do, it's because it's significant and I can't get around paying for it. That makes me a cunt too.

Actually, I was talking about the post on the previous page. There is no defence of disc-locked-content, none, anyone claiming otherwise is... yes.. a cunt.

dlc is irrelevant in this game anyways. the one free with preorder took me maybe an hour all together. 30 mins to find the maps in the normal game world and dig them up, then another 30 mins visit the tiny island that i completely explored in probably even less then 30 mins. Im honestly being generous when saying it took me one hour. I would not miss this content at all.
the whole game took me around 45 hours, and it gave me that great sense of adventure like gothic series and risen 1.
the way they handeld dlc's is indeed shit. but hey, the base game i full without it, and i don't mind them making money on tards who need to have even the clothing dlc
if the DLC was a huge part of the game content, then having it on disk would be a way more douche corporate greed move.

So I suddenly have urge to play some RPG and I still haven't played Risen 2 besides the part of tutorial area when the came came out. So my question is: is the game any good coming from someone who enjoyed Risen 1? Also, is the game polished enough? I only see one update that was released shortly after game came out... Did it fix most of the bugs/problems?

I haven't finished it yet, but I like it more than the first one, simply because they made this one deserve the name, while the first one was just a masked Gothic. I know that's not bad, but at the same time it was supposed to be a new IP.

Risen 2 wasn't too bad, they just hyped it up too much and bullshitted their way through all their interviews
The locations aren't very different from each other, but people will defend that by saying "they should look the same", and perhaps they should, but the same is boring
The worst thing for me was getting right up to the end, only for them to release a patch that made combat easier. Granted, it should have been there from the beginning, but it just felt crap knowing that people could just breeze through it after that. It was entirely possible to fight with what you had, when you unlocked abilities you became OP enough, and without the need to be able to dodge as well.
If I had to give it an arbitrary number, I'd give it 7 Risens out of 10 |
I'm struggling to figure out for myself which is worse. Gothing 3 or 4. Community patch might have fixes issues, but holy shit that combat. I tried a couple of months ago and it's just so bad it's unbrearable.

Eh what? Gothic 3, even in a broken vanilla state, overrules Gothic 4 easily.

I finished Gothic 3 twice (once with an early CP and once with the final CP), it was more than enjoyable.

Three times for me, once vanilla and twice with progressing CP releases. The game is great, how any supposed Gothic fan can ever claim "not enjoyable" is beyond me.

About Risen 2, it's very rough and the combat system is underwhelming, but the game also has a huge world to explore, tons of things to do and interesting characters, so yeah, I'd recommend it to anyone is looking for some RPGsauce. Risen 1 was better though

I don't think that Risen 1 is better than Risen 2.
Both are sub poor but the second part is better technically and the first was very bad in the end.
And I agree that G3 is by far the worst in the series.
