Completed the game in one sitting. I really enjoyed it all the way to the end. Spoiler: | Lame ass ending though. And since Radical has been laid to rest, I guess we won´t see any sequels or DLC´s. |

So my Q8300 is bottlenecking my 6850 but the same is not true for my P7350 and 9600mGT? |
Up to a certain point that's how it is, yes
This is how it normally works:
A powerful enough GPU (like a 6850) is in itself capable of rendering a scene at higher framerates, but if CPU is not powerful enough it will hold the entire process back, making the GPU "wait" for it. You could say the GPU is not rendering faster because it's not being given anything to render, not because it can't cope with the load. That is why lowering graphical settings does't have a significant impact on performance - this reduces the load on the GPU, but the GPU is not fully loaded in the first place because it's waiting for stuff to trickle down through the CPU's bottleneck.
Classical symptoms for this (and you can easily check ths yourself) are low FPS with low GPU utilisation and high CPU utilisation.
In case of a lower end GPU (such as your 9600m) you are simply hitting your GPU limits sooner than the CPU's, that's why, up to a certain point, lowering settings will give you a boost in framerates... until you hit the CPU bottleneck again.

I only had big performance problems with 3 games so far on this PC (BF3 which I can't give a single fuck about anyway; GTA4 and this), but my PC sucks, so I have no say in this I guess. Also I don't have high CPU usage in this. It seems to stay at about 50-60%. From the usage point of view everything seems to be fine.

Prototype.2.Proper-SKIDROW
Code: | SKIDROW
the leading force
proudly presents
Prototype 2 - Proper (c) Activision
30-07-2012....Release Date <-> Protection.............Steam + CEG
Action...........Game Type <-> Disk(s)......................2 DVD
PROPER NOTES
The guys from Fairlight have recently started to do some Steamworks CEG
releases, and while it's abosolutly fantastic to see them compete with
the rest of us, their method simply dosen't justify the effort they
put into this.
There are several reasons, but here are the two most interesting ones:
1. CEG Routines are not resolved, instead a part of ceg is emulated to
calculate the right values, respect for the research on this, but
can lead to false results and slows runtime down.
2. CEG and CRC is still active, can`t run under debugger neither using
a "Trainer"
While the second option isn't a reason to proper, it's not living up
to the scene rules.
So now we have decided to proper Fairlight's Prototype 2 release,
because our crack is fully reversed and CEG free. Which gives the end
user a more stable crack, with less crashes, startup problems gone,
fast loading, better framerates etc. are some of the problems that our
fully reversed crack prevents.
We encourage Fairlight's crackers to run our proper under debugger and
set breakpoints on these examples offset's, to see how different kinds
of ways CEG get resolved.
10569E10, 10569D70, 1055CF40, 103036F0 and 1010E960
There are of course more, but this will give insight into, why your
way of killing the CEG checks with mov,al 1 - just isn't optional for
all users, because the CEG does not always gets calculated the same on
each machine.
If you still don't get what we mean, then contact us, and we'll help
you.
What's even more sad, is that Fairlight got the knowledge to properly
reverse the protection and in the end it's actually not that hard to
do. So why not do it the quality, tradition and pride way?

If it helps a bit, that means secure system of the game fucks up with crack somehow. It's then more likely Arma II situation.Arma II's secure system was also pain in the ass.Pirate version wasn't stable at all and moreover controls suck because of that...

No problems here, game runs fine with no crashes using SR's crack and - if anything - framerate does seem more stable. Fewer dips to low 50s even when leaping across multiple buildings in succession which, I might add, is extremely invigorating! There's something primal and very, very enjoyable about crossing this map compared to the first game.. everything is way more fluid in this and your jump/glide movements are more enjoyable.

Just finished it, completed everything (100%)
Took me 12 hours or so, got everything that could be gotten.
Maybe I'll start a new game+, maybe not. Not sure yet.
On a sidenote, the tendrils are fucking AWESOME. This game really should have got Marvel license and just be called "Carnage: The Game" because that's what it is.
And they stay persistent in the world for a long time too!
Brawler Pack is mad fun as well, not to mention the Bio-Bomb A really good game to fuck around with, but nothing more. I liked the final bossfight though.
There's not a lot to do after you finish the game though, Prototype 1 had races, challenges, this has none of that.
I'd say it's a slightly better game than Prototype, but maybe that's because I'm a huge Carnage fanboy 7+/10 for me.

How the hell are you guys getting crashes? It's just four files .... prototype2engine.dll (that's the crack) and the Steam emulator; steamclient.dll, steam_api.dll and sidrow.ini. There's nothing to mess up and no reason why it would crash if the game worked fine before.

No idea old bean, replaced the files and dead, wondering if its look for a disk in the drive (or mounted), I dumped them for space, presumed it was fully cracked?
Worked fine previously...
