It only gets memorable when you play it more than 100h over a long timespan, not gonna happen when you complete this 30+ hour game in 1 week. Laughing

I was surprised you can't actually dodge in this game. THAT FUCKING ALLIGATOR
Movements are very hindering forcing you to flee some battles or rely on cheap tricks

yeah I exploited their pathing by using guerilla warfare behind a campfire.

Best is to take a companion with you at all times.

I'm pretty efficient in combat when it's 1v1, did learn quite a few skills (like kick and power attack etc) But that damn alligator runs faster than I can sprint and keeps you staggered, I don't have a shotgun though, I guess I better go back and buy myself one for this little fucker.
I'm just saying a dodge ability could've made the combat a lot smoother

I have no companions at the moment and the only characters around are helpless women, alligator doesn't take long to switch its attention to me if it's attacking them. I'm getting a shotgun for that motherfucker, I also ran out of bullets and there doesn't seem to be anywhere to get fire arms since I can't leave the third? Island I'm in Surprised

IF you have a shotgun, turn your back on the croc, and run in a circle until you hear it's jaws snap. Then turn back and give the alligator a big surprise while the biting animation is playing.
Rinse. Repeat.

LOD scale tweak, instead of just extending the view distance via config tweaking this mod alters the template file to minimize the model scaling, also the "Anti-Warp" vegetation mod has been updated and will no longer crash the game if the patch is installed.
(Basically tweaking the config file extends the fade in and fade out distances of objects but this extends the distance before the model is scaled down in polygon and texture detail although this is just the first version and only does part of this currently.)

They complement each other, so you can and should use both.
AntiWarp corrects trees, LoDDM objects.

They essentially do the same thing but with different systems, one extends the vegetation (SpeedTree apparently.) view or rather render distance by tuning the template files and setting new values for distances and what else is in there while the other mod does the same but for the LOD system instead which means objects won't reduce as much in detail just a few steps away from them and texture resolution won't scale down though I believe that currently only the models are affected by this so textures are still scaled.

It seems the author is also trying to find a good balance between performance and visual quality or view distance in this case so the framerate hit is very minor unless you also tweak the config file to extend the draw distance of objects and vegetation even further. Smile

Not that good with explanations but as I've understood it the data for how far to render vegetation or rather the SpeedTree models and the data which defines LOD scaling is in these template files so by increasing those values and maybe also doing a light increase in the config file you'd get far less noticeable pop-in and the sort of "blooming" effect vegetation displays (Morphing or what to best call it.) while still retaining pretty good performance.

EDIT: Was answered. Smile

Ah, I see, exactly my thoughts. Well, since AntiWarp was updated to eb compatible with the patch may as well give it a shot.
