I always wait at least 3 months to around 2 years before i play RPG's, gives a much better experience, FO:NV was a rather amazing experience fully modded. Gonna wait at least another year before i play Skyrim.

I really want to like this but it just feels clunky like all hell.
Is there a way (besides using fraps) to mesure the fps because I have the feeling it runs worse than it should, even on the lowest settings.

Ugh I'm gonna wait and see if PB actually bothers to patch this. Guess I'll just re-re-replay Gothic 2 instead till then.

Yeah this will be a buy from me once i see a nice, big patch from PB, if not then screw both PB and Deep Silver. Really nice how you can stand behind a NPC and stab him and he wont even notice, lol..

That Anti-warp mod is awesome.. Ridiculous how PB screwed that up, because i can't see how that morphing thing is a performance feature, it doesnt seem to lower the poly count it just shrinks the the physical size of the mesh.

It adds extra leafs and branches as well although this isn't something you usually see but there are a couple of plants placed near enough for you to notice this behavior (Especially leafs appearing out of thin air without any branches to support them.) but still the performance impact on a current mid-range PC would be pretty minimal outside of using transparency based AA or some similar method.
(So the default values are pretty poor which that mod demonstrates quite well with that performance comparison chart.)

You go barefist hunting for firebirds. As a real man should, boy.

Or kill some turkeys. Nobody seems to mind and you get 20 glory for it.

21 glory, my friend. You know that Scholar ring that you have in the inventory when you start the game?! It actually makes a difference. Not many items that would give you glory bonuses in the game, so if you want to farm even the slightest amount of extra glory, you will use that ring like crazy.

I know, just gave the base value. Aside from a few occasions when I need other boosts (in conversations) it's always on.

And it's 23, friend. You start killing turkeys only after getting Treasure Isle legendary item Cool Face

Yes Smile 5% of 12000 (level8-9 of an ability)? That's 600, or 6 ghouls more. Not a small amount. 1800 if you have the legendary item. Worth it? Yes!
You can live without it, but you get that extra level or two.

Same system as (since?) Gothic I believe, base level times ten with the lowest level creatures being passive / ambient (There's a achievement by killing ten of those.) stuff like turkeys and small monkeys (Or the elastic PhysX rabbits and snakes in Gothic 3) up to I think it was 220 for the Gorilla (It's a bit like a troll basically) and I don't remember if the Guardian (A type of undead, not a boss as such.) was the same or if it was 240 or some such nor do I remember what the leviathan type fish creature was worth or how to call it.

(With the player being forever level 1 since you don't gain anything other than two or so rank / title switches and the increases from spending glory - and gold for some reason, in increments of 1000 normally but some skills go above the 10.000 value up to 15.000 instead I believe it was.)

Yeah.. levelling in this requires a terrifying amount of "glory" Very Happy But still... for every thousand glory you only get FIFTY extra with the ring. Hardly worth giving up skill-tied rings, such as those that grant +10/+15 to skills.

I guess they could call the dev (debug?) room with all the trainers and such the "glory hole" then, heh.
(Actually I think it was called the test world or some such.)

EDIT: (They were called "test level" and "showcase" - http://forum.worldofplayers.de/forum/threads/1143527-Risen-2-Launch-Options-%28load-TestLevel-or-ShowCase%29 )

Well there was this activity in Duke Nukem Forever that boosted ego when you interacted with a hole in a toilet (EDIT: Toilet stall wall.) and then dunked your fist five or so times in said wall while the screen shook and Duke did a thumbs up pose at the end. Razz
(Was it the "dream" sequence level?)

(Actually I think I learned about it in my childhood via Leisure Suit Larry and other mostly harmless adventure games.)

EDIT: Speaking of that the females are treated a bit better in this game (Though I imagine people will still complain they can't choose a female character to play as.) which is a bit contrasting from how Piranha Bytes usually does things even if it's never really been intended as such and mostly for realism and portraying the world or such.
(In Gothic 1 they were just slaves for that ore baron, in Gothic 2 - from what I remember - they basically did housework and other chores - and handled the bordello where nameless lost his virginity while still being fully clothed - then in Gothic 3 they were back to being slaves and doing menial tasks though I think there were a few exceptions.)

(Risen I don't fully remember aside from Patty, where there actually many females at all outside of one or two in the camps and the one city?)

EDIT: There is one really nagging somewhat spoiled woman in Risen 2 actually but you can talk around it or do a direct confrontation or even talk her down and then confront her (Which led to a somewhat interesting scene.) and there's some secretary in Caldera whom really starts hitting on your character for no real reason.
(I barely used companions there but I imagine the end result would have been different than a fade to black screen.)

Otherwise I guess it's fairly realistic although things are rather sparse, only one plantation for example and only one group of slaves tending to it, two native tribes though so a bit better there but the main city in the old world is seriously tiny.
(And looks like it's right next to being completely destroyed yet people go about as usual.)

No! The females are as usual non-existent in the Risen universe. Maybe the only survivors after the first part were men?!

Yeah there was like only one female (chiefs daughter I think.) in the bandit (warrior) encampment but they had that weed farm close by so I guess there was a different type of entertainment to be had.
(And the arena.)

(I don't think the inquisition outpost had any women but I might be wrong.)

EDIT: That also reminds me, what happened to swampweed, there's that one plant that looks like it might be used for that purpose but everyone is drinking grog and rum instead.
(Or "bloody mary" in rare occasions.)

(Yet there's only one single distillery in the game.)

PB might be the supreme misogins. I mean, the men in their games seems to have only two main forms of entertainment: weed and violence. The brothels were present in G2 and Risen 1, but they've played a minor role.

P.S.: i remembered that were some whores in Risen2 at the pirate's hideout, on the first island. Ah, look, again prostitutes...

Just noticed the patch, templates and projects files were updated so some bugfixes were done instead of just updating the exe file though said exe was changed as well, I barely know the file format even with the PAK explorer utilities so I've no idea how to see more detailed info.
(Or rather they had that separate type of patched archive .p00 file added to them.)

EDIT: projects.p00
World\SWC_NPC.sec and .lrent

templates.p00
Items\consume_potion\it_po_perm_cunning.tple
Items\armor_story\it_hat_stahlbart.tple
Items\armor_head\it_tricorn_steelbeard.tple
(Plus what they might have done with the exe file.)

EDIT: SWC I think is "sword coast"
