That's true. Minigames become easier when you decrease the difficulty.

I finished it, took me 20 hours (pretty much everything is explored) and it was OK.
I liked the setting, some of the dialogue was great, the gnome village I really liked and combat was OKish.
Technically the game is horrible. I don't know how they managed it, but it's actually quite a step down from Risen 1. I'm not a game developer, so it boggles my mind. Draw distance is horrible, AI is bad, character models are shit, level design is boring (recylcage, everything looks the same) and stealth is a joke. Maybe someone with more technical knowlegde of game engines can explain how the same engine (I assume it is) can turn to shit. I also had to drag myself to the end in the last 2-3 hours, it really got boring.
This game made me realize PB doesn't give a shit about fans. Most of the fuckups could've been avoided just by reading some fan feedback from their older games (or the beta!!!), almost all of the mishaps are a remnant of their old games. I have lost all enthousiasm for PB games after Risen 2. Sure they are talented and create interesting worlds, but their work ethic is abyssmal. They don't care about releasing a quality product, all they care is releasing a game as soon as possible and be done with it. Which of their games was ever patched properly or finished? My hopes were raised with Risen 1, but I doubt I'll ever play a PB game again after this one.
It was enjoyably, but I won't remember this game. 6.5/10

You need one of the four main quest items for it, the hand. Don't remember the name though.

Bone hand is one of the four relics, for what it's truly needed for it'll be used automatically but it can also remote manipulate objects so you can open hidden switches (I found a total of two of those in the entire game.) but also pick up distant items, unsure if you can use it to actually steal items.
(You can also club people with it but that seems entirely useless to me compared to using a proper weapon.)
Don't remember where I picked up all the weapon parts, various hidden chests and quest rewards but I've no memory on what item was found where.

Once you manage to forgive the game its misgivings (hideous, some of them), it's actually a pretty good and enjoyable RPG. The world is big and - a thing typical for Pirranhas - well crafted, with a lot of detail and stuff worth exploring (it's a bit repetitive, though, and the design is of lower quality than, say, Gothic 2). Story won't awe you, but is good enough to carry its own weight. Pirate theme is welcomed, but it sucks that most, if not all, of the important stuff happens on the shore - the see is treated simply as a way to travel. Even supporting characters have somewhat more of a role this time around, with you getting your own crew and being free to decide who (if anyone) is gonna run around with your nameless avatar most of the time. I also like the new magic - voo doo. Piranhas always excelled at making magic part of the world - it usually required the player to join some faction, take a test and so on, it also required actual investment, both in time and money. Looking for ingredients, making scrolls or runes needed for spellcasting always gave me a sense of acomplishement - it was something more than just a well spent ability point. The rest of magic, on the other hand, was often somewhat troublesome. You were either godlike (usually near the end, but in case of Risen 1 it was mostly for a brief period after getting Fred - your summoned skeleton), or it was the exact opposite - you had to struggle twice as hard to do the same stuff you could've done rather easily with a melee combatant or an archer. There were some good and very fun utility spells (sleep, forget, turning into animals), but combat magic required you to make and carry tons of potions and wasn't nearly impressive enough to justify that - not until the very end, that is. In Risen 2 they've dropped all pretense and stopped trying to make magic an alternative playstyle. Here, it's an addition, mostly based on rituals and creating of items, and very nicely built into the world and story - which just happens to be the best thing they've ever managed to do with it. And it works, though arguably, there could've been a bit more depth to it (more abilities etc.). Another thing I kind of liked is character advancement - it's similiar to other Gothic games, but feels slightly more refined. There are some cool (but rarely used) skills, too, like that trained monkey or a parrot. Pirate experience wouldn't be complete without them Also, the pacing is very much improved. At least the game is more or less consistent and doesn't suddenly become a boring dungeon crawler when you reach the second half (yes, Risen 1, I'm talking to you).
Sadly, all of this is heavily dragged down by horrible combat (lack of dodge makes most fights with multiple opponents a chore, and even though fighting gets slightly better with more abilities, it's still not half as good as it was in the prequel) and equally horrible coding. Object and texture pop-in, texture flicker, clipping, broken quests (at one point I had to literally reload a save from 2 hours ago, because I did some - supposedly unrelated - quests in the wrong order and kinda broke the game - reminded me of that time in the early months of Gothic 3, when a stray boar killed my quest NPC when I wasn't even around), broken dialogues, non-existant face animations - you name it, Risen 2 has got it all. I mean, for fuck's sake, it's their fifth game (and that's even without counting the excellent Gothic 2 expansion), they're not beginners anymore. It's about time they learned how to properly write a game and not only how to properly design it. More and more, it's starting to look like they just don't give a shit.
So, long story short, I liked it well enough, but it's nowhere as good as G2 or the first half of Risen 1. It seems they really do need to stick to small islands. The game's such a mixed bag that it's really hard to give it a number, but it would be something around 6 on a ten point scale.

Which two? The temple where you killed garcia and this temple on the storm island?

don't work for me, setup tells me:
"Warning: Could not open and modify ConfigDefault.xml (you can still do this manually)"
Please upload ConfigDefault.xml from ultra mod

The fix is installed, only the optional part is not (probably looks for the game in steam folders)
"[Optional - can be chose during the installation]
The default view ranges for SpeedTrees in the Risen 2 configuration file ConfigDefault.xml are multiplied by these values:
Low Medium High Ultra
1.0 1.5 2.5 4.0
Fix is OK! There are still some minor texture glitches, but the trees and other plants work fine.

just create the folders in your steam directory "...\steamapps\common\risen 2\data\ini" , place the configdefault.xml there. install the mod and copy back the xml file

Haha , when it comes to PB games is always convenient to wait a while, since the community can fix everything. Time's a bitch though, I agree
