NEED HELP!
About benito and the three cannons by the shore in sword coast:
Spoiler: |
I manage to get the crew off the ship, and the water on board. But fucking Benito stands near the three cannons and pretty much insta-kills me, regardless of if I sneak or not. How the frell do I get rid of him? Fighting him was useless since there are still patrolling guards with imba-muskets making me full of holes every time.
|
Yes, yes I'm back.
Somewhat.

I had the same issue, some games don't like the shader files being in the same directory as the .exe -- so move the shader.fx file and injFX_Shaders folder into the root of your game folder, and put the d3d9.dll in system. Works for me after that =)
If you ever get this issue with games, check for log.log to see what the error or problem is. |

I like it. The technical side is a bit worse than Risen 1, which is strange since I assume one only has to tweak the already present engine. I don't quite understand the magic popping vegetation and character models are really bad. The combat is OK, not wore or better than the first game. Still nowhere near Gothic 2 (why not use that syytem ffs!?), but the skills are fun and add some dimension to the combat. The setting is unique and much more interesting than Risen 1, which was cliche. Dialogue is fun, some are even funny (unlike Risen 1). There is more than enough customization and enough to see/explore. Stealth is a joke, but I wasn't expecting more from PB in that department.
Overall on par with Risen 1, sometimes a bit better sometimes a bit worse. I don't have any technical issues, it runs a lot better than the beta. This game was made for a gamepad, everything from menus to combat screams for a gamepad. M+K got very frustrating after about an hour, so I switched to a gamepad, much more pleasant.
It baffles me that after so many games, of wich three are very well liked, PB still hasn't managed to leave the amateuristic development style. Some design decisions are so retarded, I got a few facepalm moments (as with all of their games). And hire some goddamn coders who actually know what they're doing.

I solved the issue I asked about above, if anyone else runs into it:
Spoiler: |
Use a throwing spear from a distance and throw it at him (to draw aggro) - jump down to where your mates are and they will attack him too.

Yes, yes I'm back.

Probably later in the game you'll find a way.
Oj, an get a monkey! Besides being adorable it's VERY useful. NPC's sometimes attack it if you're not careful, but monsters/animals never do. I looted several tombs while the guardians were standing there, looking stupid. Not to mention only it can go into small openings and use levers. It's also great for recoinassance, saved me from waltzing in into a room with 4 ghouls (yes, there's qs/ql, but this is more immersive ;P ).

Can anyone that's further along confirm if you can freely travel between the islands at some point? I left some things unfinished on Tortuga but I'm hoping I can go back later.
