Plus SD cards are way too expensive compared to discs. A disc costs around $0.70 (with booklet and everything) to make. Now take an 8GB SD card. Retail they cost around $6 (the slow ones, which would probably not be fast enough), so let's just say that in mass production and for MS they cost $2.
Why would any of the parties want to take the cut in profit? Just over $1 doesn't sound much, but then tell that to Activision and several dozen of million units of CoD sold, then it makes a difference.
Prices could go up on the other hand, but then again why would people want that then exactly?

sd cards? 4gb is way not enough. 32+ gb sd cards are way way more expensive than bluray discs.
And there will have to be a physical media format. blurays, dvds, sd or whatever, becouse still, not everyone have internet and anyway... who would like to download 30+gb per game all the time?
I am ofc assuing that games will weight way more than they do now.. otherwise whats the point?

its not their problem they are just going to increase the price and let user pay for the new medium.. they probably want to try different tactic as dvd or blu ray will be hacked fast.
and they don't want to pay to Sony for a blu ray licence.

I could see them turning back to the HD-DVD. They put money and software tools into it back in the day. It has better seek times than BR. They could just say it's a proprietary format, and not have to pay Sony to use it.
dust.

I certainly hope either this console will be hacked or someone storms xbox development hq and beating every single person to a pulp or perhaps both. I dislike the gaming industry more and more for each passing year.

Well... of course not.
Not if the rumours are true that they're ditching the cell processor. That'll end backward compatibility as the architecture will be completely different. The only way to make games backward compatible to attempt emulating the OS (not gonna happen) or port key games to the new system.
And always on DRM will not happen. Yeah, they're probably talk about it but you can guarantee it won't happen.
You have to remember that a lot of these rumors will come from the consultation stage with dev houses and loads of ideas will be thrown around. Not all of them, maybe most, will be dropped.
It's worth reading the article on Gamesindustry.biz

well i think they will add a pass ... a CD key or a Kinect key like they did in Starwars Kinect Adventures to lock content only if you had pirated it
as for PS4 or Orbis well they already showed it on PS3 ... ONLINE PASS ... the thing that console users hate but PC gamers had to endure for like dunno 20 years know as CD KEYS lulz
funny to see Console games with keys now heheh

Some more rumors, this time about the CPU.
(Nice compensation for that mid-range GPU should this be true, of course there's no way to verify either of those claims until the machine is actually announced, same for the PS3 successor I guess.)

I think Sony is the one to watch here. Bearing in mind, the PS3 only started breaking even 4 years after launch (last september to be more precise), the fact that their forecast is a loss of 6.4Bn dollars and they're axing 10K jobs. Oh, and they're not leading the console race in terms of either attachment rate or hardware sales.
Perhaps they won't be as 'cutting edge' as last time and maybe it explains why they're outsourcing their chip?
