On my desktop with x800 xt and 1 gig ram I cannot play more than 5 mins single or multiplayer, all settings on high and 2x antialiasing. On my laptop with geforce 6800go, same settings, not one crash after hours of playing.

If I set the AGP Aperture to 256, will I not risk any blowing up of my system? Errors? Whatever?
Very sorry for asking such a n00b question a website where obviously everybody is an IT specialist.

Get the clone release or the reloaded one with a mini image to mount.
Shouldn't be too hard to find.

I crash very occasionally, I definately cannot wait for the first patch of bug fixes for this as well as for them to kick all the pirated players taking up slots on the official servers AND open more ranked. Its so very lagged.

God, I hope you've got at least 2Gb of RAM there buddy. |
BS, its your system, i play it fine on 64p maps (yes everything maxed out), sure 32p maps are alot smoother, but its definetly playable on 64p maps, just give it 15 min to load everything. Also remember that virtual ram is your friend. |
A little late replying, but I've got 2Gb Hynix PC3200 CAS 2 (4x 512mb DIMMs).
I haven't tried it yet but I'm sure it's quite demanding.
dyn IP addys, subnet & mac spoofs, email routing, and if all else fails, wi-fi. banned? lol, its more like brb. =p

Someone mentioned earlier that you can join a single player game.
I have some mates over and we want to play with bots - as my mates are hopeless and don't want to play online (I am good thouGH).
can anyone help me with how to set up a bot/lan match?
Cheers
Speed

No. GameKeyStore key works for me on any server. Have only played about an hour with the key, but have not experienced any CTD or gfx errors.
installed reloaded version with modified exe

I hope they never get rid of the warezed participants, those are fellow citizens for crying out loud! I have no qualms about paying for the game while others duck under the radar to play. Who cares?

I don't care REALLY but if there are less of them that means more space on the ranked servers for me And I'm a selfish person.

Here are benchmarks going from a 128MB AGP Aperture to 256MB AGP Aperture within the BIOS:
128 AGP
Time (ms), Min, Max, Avg
60000, 25, 97, 73.783
256 AGP
Time (ms), Min, Max, Avg
60000, 39, 97, 76.417
(Max quality @ 1280x1024)
Gamers may want to change their AGP aperture size from within their BIOS! |
|
Right, but some questions:
Which GPU did this, and which brand.
How much MB had the GPU onboard.
How much RAM was installed, what was the CPU, etc
Thnx! |
although knowing all that might be interesting, and somewhat useful to know how much it could affect you, it really doesn't matter much since you would need multiple benchmarks on multiples systems to efficiently scale the usefullness of this change.
What remains certain is that BF2 demands a truckload of space for it's textures (I blame laziness in coding to boost GPU sales.) and one rather efficient way to boost your available GPU space is to give your system more AGP Aperture.
FYI: AGP Aperture acts sort of like a swap file, only in your ram and for your graphic crad (unline the "real" swap which is for your processor)
Although there are no official "best" way to set the AGP Aperture Size, I'd recomend you set it equal to your video card's memory, as long as you have enough RAM to spare. An AGP Aperture size too high will just be useless and suck up your system's RAM, which isnt good.
Best thing is to try yourself and see. |
PS. for those with pci-e,like me,you will find this option under PCI-E PAYLOAD in BIOS.
