The game works just fine with 512mb ram and a AGP aperture of 256 (I have always had 256 on this).
I can run with some settings on medium and some on high and 1024x768 without any problems. Just turn around a few times at the start of a map and let things load and it will be just fine.
This is on a basic system with a athlonxp running at 212x10, 9800pro (128mb) running at 420/374 and 512mb ram running at good timings.

The most important setting is the texture setting, anything higher than medium will make the game lag like hell because of the 512mb ram and the heavy use of the swap file.

Game is quite good. I have never been a huge fan of modern combat so I prefear bf1942 and vietnam more (I'm problary the only one that actually likes bf vietnam), but it's still good Smile

If there are, then im interested. I usually play as engeneer or medic,
and my heli skills were not matched online as of yet. I also have a dedicated gunner, that I practice with on daily basis.
I'm all into teamwork and fallowing orders from a good commander.

Pic of me parked in the belly of carrier

btw. im not sure if the ingame ping works properly. I have played on servers
that showed 120 ping and it ran a lot smoother then on some servers with
60-70 ping. Also the 'smoothnes' of the game seems to depend on
what people you are playing with more then how many. I played on one
server all day. In the morning the ping was around 60, in the evening
when some people rotated it jumped to over 100.

If I set the AGP Aperture to 256, will I not risk any blowing up of my system? Errors? Whatever?

No, no and no, you just 'loose' some RAM if a game need more of GPU that what's it got and gain a smoother gameplay Smile n00b question would be 'how do i get to my bios' ;>

Get the clone release or the reloaded one with a mini image to mount.

Shouldn't be too hard to find.

I crash very occasionally, I definately cannot wait for the first patch of bug fixes for this as well as for them to kick all the pirated players taking up slots on the official servers AND open more ranked. Its so very lagged.

God, I hope you've got at least 2Gb of RAM there buddy. Wink

BS, its your system, i play it fine on 64p maps (yes everything maxed out), sure 32p maps are alot smoother, but its definetly playable on 64p maps, just give it 15 min to load everything. Also remember that virtual ram is your friend.

A little late replying, but I've got 2Gb Hynix PC3200 CAS 2 (4x 512mb DIMMs).

I haven't tried it yet but I'm sure it's quite demanding. Wink

This game suck... It looks like a mod for Battlefield 1942... I might as well just download the Desert Combat Sad
I guess I expected something extraordinary and I got the same Battlefield 1942 but with different skins/weapons/maps Sad
Fucking moneystealing companies that doesn't wanna work... fuck you!

Anyone disagrees ? Well fuck you too.

About Hitman: Movie (2007)
Vin Diesel is a hardcore gamer, and absolutely loves the Hitman series. For that reason I have faith that he wont destroy the movie.

Response: Well, Uwe Boll probably loved the Alone in the Dark games.

No. GameKeyStore key works for me on any server. Have only played about an hour with the key, but have not experienced any CTD or gfx errors.

installed reloaded version with modified exe

I hope they never get rid of the warezed participants, those are fellow citizens for crying out loud! I have no qualms about paying for the game while others duck under the radar to play. Who cares?

They take up spaces in the ranked servers so I can't join Sad

Yeah, initial stutter. When I join a game I have like 20 seconds of mild to heavy stuttering and then everything is smooth, happens every new map.

1gb of fast ram is plenty.i get about 4 secs of stutter while it loads shit.
everything on high btw.

P.S. disagree on the point of getting ahead of pirates.if you guys are stupid enough to pay EA for this buggy game then you deserve to be behind the pirates in the pegging order imo.

was gonna buy but i aint supporting lazy ass devs that cba checking their game runs properly before releasing.

Battlefield 2 Performance Tweak

Battlefield 2 hits your onboard GPU's memory hard. In some cases, the game uses over 256mb of memory.

Here are benchmarks going from a 128MB AGP Aperture to 256MB AGP Aperture within the BIOS:

128 AGP
Time (ms), Min, Max, Avg
60000, 25, 97, 73.783

256 AGP
Time (ms), Min, Max, Avg
60000, 39, 97, 76.417

(Max quality @ 1280x1024)

Gamers may want to change their AGP aperture size from within their BIOS!

Right, but some questions:
Which GPU did this, and which brand.
How much MB had the GPU onboard.
How much RAM was installed, what was the CPU, etc Smile
Thnx!

although knowing all that might be interesting, and somewhat useful to know how much it could affect you, it really doesn't matter much since you would need multiple benchmarks on multiples systems to efficiently scale the usefullness of this change.
What remains certain is that BF2 demands a truckload of space for it's textures (I blame laziness in coding to boost GPU sales.) and one rather efficient way to boost your available GPU space is to give your system more AGP Aperture.

FYI: AGP Aperture acts sort of like a swap file, only in your ram and for your graphic crad (unline the "real" swap which is for your processor)

Although there are no official "best" way to set the AGP Aperture Size, I'd recomend you set it equal to your video card's memory, as long as you have enough RAM to spare. An AGP Aperture size too high will just be useless and suck up your system's RAM, which isnt good.
Best thing is to try yourself and see.

PS. for those with pci-e,like me,you will find this option under PCI-E PAYLOAD in BIOS.
