Yeah thats how Diablo works indeed, sucks though as you dont really feel you've accomplished anything by clearing a crypt just to have all enemies respawn when you leave the area...

One thing that needs to be fixed immediately upon launch, and I do mean "immediately" -- not in a patch, not later, but on launch direct from the game -- is the saving system. Fighting through a dungeon or crypt, closing the game and then reopening it (for whatever reason, such as being disconnected from the net) puts you back at the last Waypoint Shrine you accessed.... and resets the map back to how it was before you entered it. All FOW is back, all enemies are back, all loot zones are back, forcing you to slog through it all over again.

That is beyond irritating and most certainly needs to be fixed.

i think this can be quite solved by making offline mode but i dont see they will ever do it Sad

It didn't work that way in Diablo 1. And yeah, it removes all accomplishment *and* undoes all the hard work opening the map too Sad

Congrats to those that got in! I'm still using d34dite's account.. but damn the game is fun. Bring back Diablo1-style saving, fix those laughably blurry/low-res textures, let us play offline.. and it would be fantastic. I doubt any of the above will ever happen though Rolling Eyes

Looks like they sent invites to everyone and their mom, since even I got one. Pity, would have loved a GW2 beta invite instead.

ps: is the camera fixed in this close-up view or can you zoom out somehow?

the default camera is what you get. although I wouldn't call it close-up, it's much further out than d1 and d2.

They are extra cautious about potential cracking and providing offline mode would leave a huge hole in their "protection". After reading http://www.the-ghetto.org/content/diablo-iii-will-not-be-cracked-at-launch-stop-deluding-yourself-you-fools i realized that his claim "Diablo III is an MMORPG masquerading as a dungeon crawler" is kind a true. But somehow I don't care anymore about it especially when real money kicks into game world. No matter how game is good I simply hate even possibility of buying stuff for games with a real money.

No it's not. It's about the same as D2 on default, but D2 has a resolution mod available that lets you see much farther. Too bad there won't be any mods for D3 so we'd be stuck with this. Meh.

Bet the dev's didn't play Eastern Sun or the other plethora of mods that enhanced the game tenfold. Could have helped put the game in better shape, at this stage i can't see the gameplay stacking up to ES or Median, at least not a release.

So far:
Item based skills with deep customisation = scrapped (What do i do at lvl 30?+ just items)
Salvagable item / crafting system = scrapped
Additional NPC's for further customisation = removed
Runes / Jewels / Charms = Removed
Attribute point customisation = removed (median XL was on the right track fixing this)
Reference to satanic themes / crosses / d1 mythos gone = why all the goddamn political correctness.
Online only = minimum ping for my part of the world is 250 - 350 to NA.

I really want this game to be good, but the last 3 - 4 months of news are killing it for me.

hahaha omg. didn't know blizzard was making the skills/talent system exactly the way they are redesigning it in world of warcraft in the next expansion. World of diablo indeed.

Edit: Might not be the same system, still the game is incredibly fun. Can't wait for the release!

Have any of you played the beta? Confused

You still can salvage items and craft items
There are still runes and jewels
It still references voodoo and dark themes a lot, hell, one of your characters you can play as is a fucking witch doctor Laughing
As for the ping, they will open EU servers after release obviously.

Don't know about other stuff.

To zoom in, press Z. It's too extreme though, making it practically unplayable at that level of closeness. Shame the mouse wheel can't be used in stages, like TQ for instance.

don't forget the netcode is exceptional.
I'm playing from EU to US as many others and there is no lag ever, really.
even if you would have to play with a 300 ping in the final it wouldn't matter because you don't notice anything.

the only "lag" people have been experiencing is framerate stutters.
it appears many people nowadays can no longer tell the difference between lag, low framerates and stutters.

The netcode is far from exceptional! Come on! Mad It's awful and it lags to hell and back constantly, I'm almost NEVER below 600ms and even when it's green it's 350, which is fuck all to do with "framerate" - I don't know about you, but I feel that and I see it constantly. Just because you don't feel it, doesn't mean nobody else does.. and 350ms is unacceptable.

I wish Blizzard would offer a strict offline mode for those of us that don't want to "party up, lolz!!" --- Let us be offline, lock the characters if you want, but honestly... online-only is not fun for solo players.
