Oh yeah this game is going to be great!
Crusader Kings II, King Arthur II, and so close together too! It's going to be hard to decide what to play...
I'm in the same situation as you, Reklis, as I also only found out about (or rather got interested) Crusader Kings a long time after it was released and I just didn't manage to get into it mostly due to it's strange old interface.
So I've been eagerly awaiting CK2 which has a much cleaner interface and just looks like an even better game overall.

I won the prize question of the monthly paradox mail, I took one of the insane scottish kings and they liked it.

total war style battles you mean? nope
it has the strategic map battles like hearts of iron, europa universalis, victoria and sengoku.
this game is all about building a dynasty, not battles.

Been looking forward to this, and judging by the demo it doesn't look like it'll disappoint. Paradox really has been doing great the last few years.

How to play other characters in the demo:
1. Choose one of the 4 you can normally play.
2. Press start game.
3. Quickly select another character on the map while the interface disappears.
4. ???
5. Profit!

And you can edit the defines.txt and bookmarks.txt and set the demo date some years back - recommend not to set it too far back tho (lack of characters). But the demo limit is the year of 1086 and not static 20 years. More on the Paradox forum...

No, apparently Amazon already shipped the copies but you have to activate them on steam.
So I guess it's not encrypted then, like other steam only games.

Great way to start the weekend! Was just playing the demo, with the year 666 cheat thingy and it crashed and then this!
Even just the demo kicks ass, this game will never leave my harddisk!
