It's gonna be the same as with any Paradox game. They're too freaking complex and overwhelm newcomers with little to no tutorial.
That's why I never got into the Europa Universalis series, or the Hearts of Iron series or the Victoria series.
They're so bloody complex and they give you almost no clue about what you got to do.
Don't get me wrong, even if it may sound like it, I'm not a derpy console tard that goes "complexity? challenge? Don't want that."
But if a game just overwhelms me with stuff to do like that it's deterrent.
Same went for Crusader Kings.
Meh. Gimme at least a decent tutorial in these games damn it.

It's actually pretty easy once you get the grasp of it.

The point is that getting the grasp of it isn't easy at all. :/

They are made for a niche market. I got into EU3 and the addons for about a week. I got the hang of it on the lower difficulties, but i found that i'm not having much fun. It's just too static for me, and all the sliders just don't interest me.

I won't even talk about Victoria 1&2 since that is just impossible for me to comprehend. I don't have the attention span and willpower to learn it.

Probably not a game for the bigger crowds, but I don't think its that complex. If you really give it a chance you will figure it out, because you're not dumb. Its just the first few hours that can be very boring and annoying. And the old graphics\resolutions doesn't help - this was a killer for me when trying crusader kings. So I've decided just to wait around for the sequel, same went for Victoria, I just waited for the sequel. But now I'm interested in trying the first Victoria, I've heard its much more rewarding than the somewhat disappointing Victoria 2. Besides Victoria 2 seems pretty dead, with few patches and no planned expansions? I could be wrong though, haven't followed the game in a while.

I'd recommend hearts of iron 2 and all their expansions and stand alones. That game is so insanly cool. I can't believe how many hours I've gotten out of those games, brilliant Very Happy

Might be worth checking out hearts of iron 3 with the new expansion, but so far the game has been a big let down.

There are a few good guides on the paradox forums if you need a tutorial to get started.

And europa universalis 3, sooo good. Dunno what game I have played the most in my life, but that might be it

Every game also have many many mods that makes the game last even longer and stirr things up. Fantastic community.

I just wish paradox could release a game that was playable at launch, their games are always piss poor at launch, and I mean REALLY poor. Many games take a least half a year to get fixed enough to be somewhat enjoyable Sad

A new beta patch was released June 27 and a new expansion has been announced, too.
