I have a p4 2.4 with a 128 meg graphics card and 512 of ram.
I play HL2,Doom3,Far Cry,BFV on 1024 x768 medium settings and they all run fine.
I haven't upgraded for years - what games are you playing that need 2 gig of ram? |
What are you, retarded? Is your haven't upgraded for years argument supposed to prove something? It's time to upgrade, dumbass!

Man I have 512ram DDR 400mhz and I set everything to the lowest settings and the patch installed the game is unplayable.. it load on the HD for 3 sec at every 2 step I make. This is stupid. I mean.. how can a game requiert 1gig ram?.. |

Yes it is. Just because a game isn't smooth doesn't mean you don't have enough RAM. |
p4 3.4e@3.81GHz, Ati Radeon x800 xt pe @ stock, 2G of ram @ 224Mhz. The game is silky smooth (>50 min fps) @ 1152x864, everything on max except antialiasing is on setting of 1. What are you talking about? |
Looks like I don't even need to reply to you, someone already did it for me.
Am I supposed to be impressed by your computer? I've seen and played on much better.

Jeez, guys cant you understand? The game just aint optimizded for pie's sake! With a 2gb amount of ram i can play far cry and doom3 at the same time...and by that i wanted to say that 2gb of ram is MORE than enough. |

My point (if I must make it clear for - I’ll type slowly) my point was to state that - unlike the bloke who was being rude a few posts ago- telling someone to "Get with the times” I am yet to need more than 512 meg of ram.
So you are telling me I am a dumb ass for not spending a couple hundred dollars on something I don't need - I must be dumb cause I don't understand??

1gig of ram on most games these day is best, ever since farcry really, cures most games from lag and stutters. Ram is dirt cheap at the moment to - 512meg is really the bottom end of the scale these days for serious gaming.

Did you know that you didn't have to use windows virtual memory with 2G of ram? Do you know what's it like to run stuff w/o having to use virtual memory?
You cheap little bastards. 2G of ram on pricewatch is $110.

Here is my spec :
ASUS P4C800
Pentium 4 2.6Hz

1024 Kingstan Memory (512 x2)
the second Gig of ram i bought is also from Kingstan (512 x 2) |
Memtest86 is your friend, download that and run it. It checks your memory and will show you if there are any errors.
It's a dos program btw so you need a floppy.
It's also a great program to use when you push that FSB and those timings.

For the last few days I spent nearly £500 on pc components and here is why. First it was only a memory upgrade from 1 Gig to 2 Gig. Then i found out that my mother board did not support the second gig i bought. Then i bought another gig from a different manufacturer. Anyway, somehow i fried the motherboard. The PSU was also dead. I went to the PC World to buy a new motherboard as i needed one urgently. When i came home i found out that it was a different model which did not support my current processor. (I know i should have checked it more carefully before purchasing it, rather than just looking at the "Intel Pentium Inside" logo ") So i went back to PC World and bought the correct processor for £199.99 because it was the only processor that was compatible with the motherboard i bought. I wanted to upgrade my pc anyway but i wasn't ready for it hehe.
Upgraded from Pentium 4 2.6 Ghz 512 Cache ----> Pentium Prescot 3.2 Ghz 2MB Cache and from 1 Gig of Ram ----> 2 Gig running in dual channel mode.
Anyway it was a nightmare as I didn't know what was causing all the reboots and freezez. By the way i got a spare 2 x 512 Kingstan Ram PC3200 /400.
I don't know what to do with them. Finally I'm writing all this to let you know be extra careful when upgrading. I hope the game runs better, didn't try yet.
edit: I just found out that the CPU also supports 64 bit windows & applications.

second, 1.1 patch is out
ftp://ftp.download-center.com/international/boilingpoint/BOILING-POINT-EUROPE_RETAIL-UPDATE1_1.EXE
though a guy on the official forum says that using that patch he cant load a savegame. Anyone confirm that ?
Edit: after reading the post deeper, actually he says that he cant start a new game. Anyway, has any of you tested the patch and confirm that the savegames are compatible with the patch ?
Edit2: Got the patch and tried with the clone version. No problems running it and the savegames load normally.

I tried the game with my new system with the two euro patches and i must say the game is playable now. It is very smooth 60+ frames with high settings 16 AF and 4 x AA, highest resolution.
Pentium 4 3.2 Ghz with 2 MB L2 cache and EM64T (64bit) technology
2 Gig of Ram in DUal Channel
6600 GT
I'm enjoying the game now. I think it is one of the best games i've played this year.
With my previous setup the game was not playable (without the patches) (very laggy)
Pentium 4 2.6 512 cache
1 Gig of Ram in dual channel
6600 GT
So you decide whether it was the ram or the cpu upgrade that made this game playable ( or the patches)

Well the second patch is the official 1.1 patch. I don't know what version the first patch updates the game to. I installed the first patch, then the second 1.1 patch and then used Hoodlum's 1.1 crack.

No, it isn't. And I dont mean the bugs, the only bug that was obstructing me from playing the game was the one that the saves dont load sometimes. The point is that a game with about 50(not including the main ones) and no more than 5 skins for them, cant be GOTY. Also, the joungle was repetitive as hell. All this means that if they worked on it a few more months it could REALLY be GOTY.
