He said he's like to switch to Underped 3. This game bored him too much. |
Ah well, it's his time.

In your own head, of course. The game didn't give you that many options in dialogue or quest paths.
edit: have a look here, if you're interested.

If I recall correctly, it actually didn't give you any.

I'll take what I can get, TBH because Bethesda is one of the very few developers who put out games like this. True, they're derped more and more with every iteration, but there's a glimmer of hope that comes with the modability of the game. Bethesda's internal slogan is probably "Modders will fix it" and they usually do.

How so? I'm not seeing that. Oblivion was dumbed down a whole lot, had bad combat and a generic world. Skyrim looks like a huge improvement in almost every way. I see it as a solid evolution in the series.

I disagree. I mean, the mods can be great( or would be, if the majority weren't doing the dickgirl thing), but they practically never change the core game, nor the game mechanics and interface( to a significant degree), and most importantly they don't change the crappy quests and story. Even New Vegas, which I thought was a decent mod for Fallout 3, suffered because of Bethesda's poor engine, UI and gameplay design.
So yeah, the only reason to like Bethesda right now is because of the type of games they make. Because frankly, they kinda suck at everything they do.

Combat is very simplified, if you ask me, especially in comparison to good melee combat systems, like Risen's.

Ugh, Risen had just as crappy combat as Oblivion. Gothic 1 & 2, now those had decent combat once you understood it. Still, surprising amount of games which can't get it right. They should just copy-paste Blade of Darkness's superb TP combat. Or Messiah of M&M for FP combat.

Messiah of M&M had the best melee combat i have seen in a fantasy inspired game, it would be perfect for an rpg.

I couldn't agree more! Though, I don't know how well the combat from Severance would work in a RPG. The combat from the first 2 Gothic games was almost as good for me. It wasn't bad like many claim and I don't consider it decent either, it's one of the best combat systems ever actually.
