My US release is exactly 11.4 GB, EU is probably larger due to multi-language.

I don't say this often, but I'm kind of jealous - not only due to the fact that they're playing right now (though this is somewhat mitigated due to them having to use a shitty controller to play an FPS Very Happy), but also that they get a real server browser while we're stuck with Faceboo....I mean...Battlelog. Sad

15 GB space requirement could be anything from a 11 to 13 GB download thus leaving space over on the HDD, it's usually like that. Smile

For Battlefield 3 though everyone would have to go through Origin.

EDIT: Ah you meant bandwidth I assume, more traffic and slower speeds as a result of more people using the service.

Wow just watched the kharg island footage. Dice managed to butcher another map which according to them was "pretty big". The map itself is huge indeed, but the playable area for infantry and armor is the size of a shoe box Laughing

It is clear dice made these maps primarily for 24 rush, then ported them to 24 cq and then to 64 conquest by adding an extra flag and saying "see, we care about pc platform" lol wut

It's shaky and shit quality, but you can clearly see this is another shit map with a few flags in a straight line.

I wouldn't count on it, they only add an extra flag. Look at this picture from the console version of caspian.

This would not surprise me at all. DICE is notoriously lazy when it comes to these things. Anyone who thinks that DICE is actually going to put effort in differentiating the map sizes with anything more than a resized border and extra point is fooling themselves.

Hell, if you want to see just how much they care, take a look at BC2's FREE (we love you we give you free stuff) "map packs".....they were simply the same maps ported to different modes, 5 minutes of work tops. Draw a new border, plop down 4 flags, boom. Map pack. Free stuff. Praise us. The only time they didn't pull this shit is on the last one that actually contained new content. Very Happy

The flags do seem clustered from above. but on the ground the distances aren't really that small. From that shitty quality vid, as I understand the distance between 1st and 2nd flag is about 200m (flag to flag, not base to flag). pretty much like in BF2 maps

Just received email from Origin:

"Dear Customer,

We recently sent you an email with details containing pre-load instructions for Battlefield 3. The game release date in those instructions refers to US Central Daylight Time.

For clarification, your local live date to begin playing the game is: October 28th, 2011.

Sincerely,
The Origin Team"

conquest maps usually are more fun when caps arent too far away from each other. This makes it possible to quickly react on captures etc.

When the flags are too far from each other, you end up having a game of "run from cap to cap" and the team capping faster wins. Not fun at all.

these staggered release times for digital distribution are so bad, from uk with hong kong ip:

guessing it will only be good to play though SP and maybe COOP with, unless US/EU servers are already up then playing on asain servers with 250ms+ ping doesn't seem like much fun Razz
