Yeah, I'd much prefer a JTAG or Rebooter RGH... but you know what? I honestly won't mind buying a new drive if it's absolutely essential.

i'm running into problems flashing my xbox drive and i hope someone here can help me out.
i have a samsung ms28 drive and flashed it end 2009, early 2010 to ixtreme 1.6 i guess, so acording to the jungleflasher tutorial the drive should be flashable with the tray half open.
my bios and windows detects the drive but once i fire up jungleflasher the drive disappears from the device manager and it won't be displayed under any adress in the mtk flash32 tab.

what am i'm doing wrong ?

yes the driver is included the newest version won't start if it can't load the dll and yes i tried all the different ports some moments ago i was able to see the drive on the port i suspected and tried to send the intro command which didn't work, i guess i'll try my luck with the dosflash app

Quick question that I am sure is asked/answered in the depths of this thread.

It looks like we will not be getting LT+ 2.0 for Hitachi drives, so if I can get hold of a supported drive can I swap this for my Hitachi? I assume I just load my Hitachi key in JF and spoof it to the new drive?

I can't remember 100% but don't you need a slax boot cd to switch the drive into vendor mode? Then when the tray is half open, JF will detect it. I can't remember the exact details as I've not flashed anything other than a liteon for years but I've got a sammy somewhere and definitely a copy of slax.

Ok so here's a question from a 360 flashing noob:

My console was flashed about a year ago by someone else to ixtreme 1.51.
He mailed me the following files afterwards: identify.bin, inquiry.bin, key.bin and lite_cfw.bin.

A few months ago I managed to update my firmware to 1.91 myself..somehow Smile
I remember creating a dummy.bin file from the files above.

Now I'm trying the same for 2.0, but I can't seem to get my key verified?

Newest dash was installed (together with automatic flash to OFW I think?).

Does my box need to be probed again?

If you have the original files sent to you, check the key in those with the one you try to verify. Should be the same.

How do I check the key in these files?
And what if is isn't the same key?

I actually tried to flash it without the key being verified (I know, probably shouldn't have done that?), but of course that didn't work..

Can anyone help me?

As far as I know you can do that without problems, you just have to sign the firmware with the key from the old one and you're good to go.

Wow never thought i'd say this.

So i don't have the key/files from my lite-on drive. Turns out the new update (i leave my 360 disconnected from the internet) reflashes the drive to a new (stock) FW version. I was like what the hell, let's just try Laughing

Since i'm a cheap bastard i couldn't be assed to buy all those expensive tools like probes and connectivity shit. I followed a DIY guide from a russian, in crappy english. Cut some wire here, add on/off switch there Laughing

After 3 hours i managed to go from "phatkey failed" (apparently you have to switch the drive on and off really fast in a certain step) to a successful extraction in JF. When erasing and rewriting the drive my pc froze halfway.... dang. Googled some info and turns out there is something like dosflash.

Another 3 hours which includes googling and swearing , i managed to flash it to LT 2.0, tested and works Fuck Yeah

Cool, tho there are a lot of english tutorials and even video-tutorials on how to extract, no need to hurt yourself witha google-translated russian guide Laughing

Thanks Smile

Btw if i understand correctly. When there is a new LT+ released i only have to connect the drive to my pc, place new LT+ .bin in firmware folder, load the dummy.bin and erase/write drive, right?

Load your original firmware in jungleflasher and email the key to your self.

When the next firmware from c4e comes just load it in jungleflasher and replace the default key with your own and save the .bin.

After that go to mtkflash 32 and flash the new firmware Smile

So then you tried flashing with an old version of jf, i had the same by not loading the driver properly at first, copied the dll to the main dir from the subdir and driver did load properly and i was able to continue Smile

If you already have an stable phat xbox(Falcon or Jasper) I would just install it myself its more easy then you think but if you really want to buy an slim then go for the one with xkey its on that site the same price as wasabi and xkey is the original of the dvd emulators.

Btw if you want to avoid cutting a 2nd cable in half for the probe part, i suggest to only cut cable 6 (power).

For the probe you only need to have a needle / paperclip and a small wire. I used some old wire from my speakers, stripped off 3 cm on both side from the cable to expose the tiny cables. Wrap one end tightly around the needle and the other around a metal hole on your xbox case (grounding), voila, there's your reusable probe without taking extra risk of messing up your dvd cable. Wink
