Seing as this is about hacking the xbox 360 I thought I might throw this in here.
A while aback I tried updating the firmware on my liteon using my onboard chipset, not a VIA chipset though, and the xbox as my power source for the drive.
After some problems I got it into vendor mode and grabbed the key, made a new firmware, erased the drive and while writing the new firmware on bank 3 jungleflasher stopped responding.
Afterwards I was unable to get the drive in vendor mode again. So I bought myself a maximus extractor pro so I could power toggle without using my xbox. Also I've just bought a VIA chipset and hope I will be able to get the fucker working again.
Now, I have done some reading about using jungleflasher, Dosflash etc. But was is the easiest way to do this? I need to use the VIA chipset to connect to the liteon, uninstall the drivers for the chipset and just pray I can get it to respond with the right return code.
How do you people do it?
Hardware: Ryzen 3700x, B450 MSI Gaming Pro carbon AC, GTX1080, 32 GB 3200 Mhz cas 14, 256 EVO SSD, 1 TB EVO SSD and 4 TB HDD.

Well, I think I partially panicked. The tutorial mentioned you had to be careful when you plugged in the power from the xbox to the liteon. So I was having problems with the timing. I decided to wait thill I had a safer way to switch the power, that was why I got the maximus. I tried again. but this time I couldn't figure out which port the drive was connected to.
Also I was unsure if I sent the commands to the wrong port that I could kill my HDD's?
As you can read I was a bit new to it all.

Go read the JF tutorial, im sure that'll help you. I have made several mistakes during the times i've flashed my liteon, but it has always worked out - liteon is practically impossible to fuck up beyond repair. (as long as you have your correct key)

Does the drive eject as it is? If not just boot up dos flasher, don't worry about the port no dosflash will find all drives connected. Just use the cfw jungleflasher created.
Read dosflash tutorial first it's a doddle mate. I had exact same problem with mine.

Jungleflasher crashed while writing the firmware. After that I've been unable to see the drive even when using dosflash. I will try again when I get home. My onboard chipset is Non-VIA chipset, maybe that is why.

That's why i will never use jungle flasher again, too many crash and freeze. Dosflash is 100% safe!

So DOSFlash is the way to go if you have a LiteOn?
I usually sent my box to someone for updates but I'm thinking about updating myself this time. I haven't done it before as I didn't had the VIA chipset, but I read that nforce should do fine.

I dont think so. As i mentioned before, i've flashed my drive several times, every time using JF, and even though i've managed to fuck up on a few occations JF has always been able to flash my drive.
I am using a VIA chipset though, and i would recomend you do the same.
I would also recomend you ask for help in JF's IRC channel on EFnet, they are usualy very helpful, and have provided me with help a few times

I don't have my key; the guy who did my fw install/updates has it. I am going to ask him to sent it to me, though.
For now I'll just wait for LT+ 2.0/MAX to come out. I'm still on LT+ 1.1 and old dash(I think the last update came with Bulletstorm) so I'm going to have to do the whole dashupdate thing witch sounds a bit tricky. Btw, is there a guide for that, removing the hacked fw and installing the stock one -- people said you shouldn't update until you go back to stock with the fw.

Since you guys are talking about flashing, what would cause the "Access" Error to display on a liteon drive in Jungle-flasher..? I am not at home to give you the exact error but I can describe what happens.....
Basically we start Jungleflasher, connect the drive to the PC using the 360 as the power source.
Then start the process to make a dump of the firmware and several prompts display on the screen at this time. One might say "Power cycle drive and leave tray half open". Then after that is says "Now pull tray all the way out." Right after this message is displayed, I click the progress button to advance and I get an error (sorry I can't remember) and it has to do with the drive still being locked...I guess. This is a phat liteon drive currently flashed with LT 1.9. My friend did some reading and found that you need a probe to get a dump of the firmware. I had thought you only needed one to get the first dump, once the drive is flashed with LT you could do it as many times as you wanted. We did get a dump of the original firmware so we have the key but I want to update his drive and we keep getting this error right before the firmware dump would happen.
Has anybody else had this issue...? Or know what I'm talking about...?
When I get home I'll update my post with the error from JungleFlasher.

So you can flash the latest version of lt+ using dosflash? How about extracting the old firmware, or do you still use jungleflasher to create the new firmware?
If its possible, I think I will make a bootable usb with dosflash and disconnect all my harddrives just to be safe.

I flashed LT1.1 in DOSFlash, I can't speak for 1.91 since I'm not running it. I need to get around to ripping my PC/360 apart to flash again. I won't be extracting the old FW either, I have the drive key written down so I'll just inject that into 2.0-Max (when it comes out) FW and flash directly.

JF crashes my Windows 7 install, but works fine with my Windows XP install.
So I always leave my XP install on a separate harddrive and just swap 7 out when I need to flash.
JF always seems to be very picky where I plug my 360 drive in also, if it isn't in the primary SATA then it crashes or doesn't find it.
But if I set it up right, and use my XP install, everything goes and flashes great, takes me about 5 minutes to do a flash, including taking the damn thing apart!

nForce... but if it does it, it always does either when launching or when selecting the drive... if I pass that point "unharmed" it has never fucked up after that.

I cannot play one of the latest releases such as Resident Evil 4 HD because it demands I update the firmware. Is there a way to get around this without having to update and reflash?
I have a Hamachi (unsure on which model as I haven't opened my 360 in a long time) and currently running iXtreme 1.51
