I seriously want to punch every guy who buys the dlc. And no its not about affording the shit or not. Its about supporting such a bullshit trend, and stupid money for a 1 hour job. Superficial crap. You are part of the problem for supporting this trend and keeping it alive. WHY would anyone do this?! And please spare me for - oooooh but I played like 20 hours with this nation so I got my moneys worth because I pay a lot more to go to the cinema and thats just like 1-2 hours. ITS NOT THE POINT! Gawd shot me now.

they can add civs, there are bunch of mods adding civs.. but since civ5 is so fucked up with modding, half of those mods breaks everytime they patch the game..
and whole mod database within game is so broken..
most popular mods are usually ones that were released in first 2 weeks, and aint working for half a year, updated mods for some reason allays appear as new, dunno if thats terribly uploading by modders( kinda self sabotage i you ask me , so probably just shitty system ) , most modders gave up on civ5 anyway
not sure if you can add units

Code: | "August" Patch Notes
Hey guys,
I'm very happy to bring you the latest version of the patch notes for our upcoming patch to Civilization V.
I'm calling this the "August" patch out of convenience, but until I actually have an ETA for you, please don't assume anything
Without further ado:
[UI]
Prevent creating duplicate great people by lagging the free great person UI.
Yield modifiers of buildings from policies are now shown in the tooltip of that building in the choose production UI.
Production tooltip in City View now displays the production penalty (usually -10%) for when the player has too many units than they can support.
The checkboxes for the mini-map panel now correctly reflect the state of the options (even if these options were toggled while the panel was hidden).
Unhappiness is now broken down between regular population and population from puppet cities.
[GAMEPLAY]
Slightly reduce the bias to sneak attack.
"City must not be in Plains" requirement for Stone Works now functions properly.
Killing Barbarians inside a City State's borders with a ranged unit now correctly rewards the player with influence.
[TACTICAL AI]
Found and corrected a likely cause of having the AI send Great Generals out unescorted to "defend" tiles.
AI will avoid using land units for an operation if they are currently on a different continent than the muster point.
If attacking over land, add extra emphasis to nearby targets (reduce the chance that the AI will bypass closest cities).
[MULTIPLAYER]
Multiple out of sync causes found and fixed.
Add an Invite button on the Staging Room screen for the host.
Add a network message when force-quitting the game. Should eliminate the tedious wait for a network timeout when a player quits like this.
Host can now change the game set-up options in the lobby (except DLC) after a group has been gathered.
Player can now manually save a game while in multiplayer.
Player can now “un-end” their turn in multiplayer. This includes performing any new actions, like giving a unit a new order, opening a city screen, or clicking on the "Please Wait" button after previously ending their turn.
Ping times now displayed in the Player List UI (click the player list to expand, exposing the ping times, and then click again to hide them).
Hot-Seat: City State screens now update properly when switching players.
[BALANCE]
Pyramids now grant 2 free workers when built instead of 1.
Brandenburg Gate now gives 15 XP to units built in the city in addition to the Great General.
Taj Mahal now gives 4 Happiness in addition to a Golden Age.
Seaport now gives an additional gold on sea resources and increases naval unit production by 15%.
Harbor no longer increases naval production by 15%.
Aristocracy now gives 1 happiness per 10 citizens in a city in addition to 15% production towards wonders.
Landed Elite now gives 2 food and 10% growth in the capital (stacks with Tradition Finisher).
Trade Unions now reduce road/railroad maintenance by 33% (up from 20%) and adds 1 gold to Harbors and Seaports.
Balance tweaks to New World scenario.
[MODDING]
Installed Mods panel (in Mod Browser) will now display which mods have updates available online w/ a link to view that entry.
[BUGS]
Multiple minor bug fixes. |

barracks, armory, military academy, brandenburg
+ historical epic for +15% strength
massive bonus on being built

Civ5 is taking it too far. I'm usually very understanding of a corporation's need for profit. It's the reason they keep on making new products after all. Firaxis has however crossed the line and they haven't just recently. They did so a long time ago. It's sad they don't see that themselves. They must be making a lot of money on a few people. I would've made proper DLC's that more would buy and instead increase the cost.
I miss the old proper addons already.

You might have missed the point. Its not about the quality of the dlc's(Well it kinda is that too), its mainly the trend. But also these dlc's are poor value for your money. Why would you encourage a trend which gives you less for more money? |
Nope, I missed no point
I piss more money up against the wall every week, so I'm hardly gonna worry about paying a measly $5-$10 for DLC, am I? Besides, I love and play Civ V regular, and happen to think the game is worth it
Each to their own. |
Its not about affording it or not either. So yes I think you missed the point. But I can understand if you really think you get your moneys worth out of these dlc's - and play them a lot. Even if I loved civ 5 I wouldn't buy these dlc's, because they are a scam, you get so very little compared to what we used to get, and THAT is the core of the problem. I have my principles and I will certainly stand by them, vote with your wallet and all that good stuff that so very few have the backbone to do.. There are more than enough other games to keep me entertained to skip civ5 even if I loved it.
But why would I care if a few people think its worth the money? It doesn't concern meeee?! Because it does, if companies see that they can get away with this shit, because a handful are willing to pay over the top dollars for shit like this, well guess what's gonna happen? *sigh*
Even if things doesn't directly affect you, its not the same as it doesn't matter to you or doesn't mean anything.

Fair enough, but I'm hardly gonna complain if I'm getting ripped off a few bucks here and there for a game that I decided to buy. After all, there are many many games I didn't pay a cent for over the years, and that applies to quite a few others too, so they can hardly complain either
Maybe one of the reasons DLC is rife in the industry ATM, as it claws back a few cheap bucks at the expense of honest people, who knows?

I think patch improved tactical AI a little bit more...
Started playing as Korea, proceeded to explore the land with two scouts and 1 warrior. My warrior stumbled upon German capital, and I parked him next to potential city tile to farm for settler hoping AI will send one without spearman escort. All went better than expected as unescorted settler appeared some turns later, and was immediately enslaved Next turn AI makes very stupid thing and sends another unescorted settler right next to my warrior - another slave worker
Bismarck sues for peace, I decline and leave my warrior to farm some more, send two of just enslaved workers to improve my territory and continue to explore land with two scouts. Turns pass and scout that barely survived encounter with barbarians got threaten by German archer, not wanting to lose it I end my war with Germany.
More turns pass, and my farming warrior detects an incoming invasion towards my capital - mixed force of warriors & brutes, totaling at 8 units At haste, I retreat my farming warrior back to the capital and buy another warrior with gold, increasing my force to a total of 3 warriors
My capital was protected by river from one tile, I positioned two warriors next to the capital - one at forest and another at grassland river tiles, remaining warrior was garrisoned in city. Capital was left with 3 tiles from which attack could be made without penalties and 3 Bismarck's warriors positioned themselves at them, remaining warriors positioned themselves next them. Next turn Bismarck commenced city attack but two Bismarck's warrior proceeded to hunt my workers
Only thing that saved my capital was social policy chooser due in two turns, I selected Warrior Code and Bismarck's proceeded to retreat next turn.

on prince level, I've had all kinds of idiotic wars in the current game. Monty declares war..never sends a single unit. I don't even know where he is..4 turns later he sues for peace and offers me stuff.. and yet I never even meant him..England did the same thing
At least I saw 2 of their units. Never attacked.

JBeckman,
Can you upload new files modified with this patch 1.0.1.383, as well as two new DLCs.

I've never had good luck with the combat/war AI in Civ 5. Or any civ, really. My BFF nation declares war on me out of nowhere, I wipe the floor with them, then all of a sudden the entire world is up my arse for being a bloodthirsty warlord. Every damn game.

I know the AI and diplomacy sucks BIG time but when conquering just leave your enemy one city before you make peace. It will save you from some angry neighbors.

Yep, this helps a lot.
I am still playing my Korea game. After patch tactical AI is definitively improved, but strategic AI does weird things more often now, like declaring wars on civs that are at opposite end of the continent. The good thing, after patch, AI actually bring a decent army even on Prince difficulty, but most of the time, by the time the army riches targeted civ, it's technically outdated

oh! found this:
6. Civilization V Black Screen Out of Range Error
It's a monitor resolution problem. Right click on "Civilization V" in Steam -> Properties -> Set launch options. Add "-w 1024 -h 768 -refresh 60". Change video settings as running the game in options to this resolution and refresh rate.
can't believe that in almost a year, this company wasn't able to solve this problem, that's causing my black outs...
wtf... seriously!
im thinking into suing this company.

@kumkss
The monitor problem i also have with some games but not with civilization. The crashes and stuff you mention can be caused by faulty mods. Try starting and playing a game without mods to see if they cause the problem
Cant recommend you any mods because i only play multiplayer and since the wankers still have mods disabled on this mode i have no clue.

Pirating STEAM game is a pain in the ass, if you like to play with all latest updates and DLCs. Waiting for cracks, waiting for update files, I am so glad I have bought this one

When they decide they are done milking it, don't they usually release a collector's edition DVD with all the DLC or something?
