So, I've always loved the sound, the dialect, everything about Russians. So I was curious if anyone could point me in the best direction to start learning, easiest way to memorize things, little tips if any etc.

Perhaps you should check what your local CIA office still has to offer.

Slav languages are very difficult, i'm learning abit of polish myself at the minute. If you are serious then be prepared to invest a good amount of time, also it would help alot if you know a russian so they can give you tips on how to say words properly, it can be quite hard.

Rosetta Stone, Pimsleur, books, look for torrent packs dedicated to learning russian etc.

Just mix and dabble with different learning methods untill you find the proper one for you, Try not to threat over the grammar or millions of tenses used in the language btw... just focus on now and becoming fluent later. People will understand what you are saying anyhow, just remember that alot of slavic users don't become fluent untill a later age when compared to English.

Also English is a very complicated language, the fact that you can speak it should be good enough to help motivate you to learn any other...

Best way to learn language is to watch movies, listen to the music. Download russian movie with subtitles and start to memorize the way the words sound. The hard part is the alphabet, because it is very exotic to the western eye. Grammar too.
Btw I know russian well. Probably better than english. Also I dont understand why would you want to learn it. Pointless imho. Learn to cook and cook me a tasty dinner.

Russia has the highest rate of abortions in the world, so I think it is not so hard to impress russian chicks, you just show them cash.

I live next to Russia. I live in the part of the town where half of the habitants are of Russian origin. I studied Russian 4 years in school, I have to deal with some of them at work, but still I'm only grasping the limit of properly understanding it. Responding properly is a whole new thing thanks to their "sex" of different words which require different forming each etc..

It's cool to understand but difficult to study Smile

Yeah I also tried to learn Russian with Rosetta Stone and and every available Russian friend, though the grammar really is difficult.

They got tons of different combinations for suffixes, prefixes, and irregularities for almost every word.
Understanding some sentences may not be that difficult eventually, but saying whole phrases correctly can be really hard.

Then he should be learning Polish.

But there really is no need for that, there is the "marry for cash" deals that they have and no language is needed. Cool Face Laughing

Why would you want to learn Slavic languages? :\

Better learn Chinese, you'll need it soon xD

U menya zhopa bolit.

Probably the most important sentence you'll need to know if you're going to study in Russia.

I guess Dazz gave the most useful advice. Make sure you get a teacher who is a native speaker. The pronunciation is difficult. My father studied Russian during the 80s. He also drove a Lada back than. Whenever he practised Russian speech, it sounded like a burp fest. Very Happy

We only have 12 tenses...while for example Polish languange has only three, past, present, future

We have tense, continoues tense, perfect tense and perfect continous, it all applies to all three past, present, and future

Does Dan Aykroyds character say that to the two russian agents in Spies like us? It sounds so familiar.

Try learning Croatian or Latin -.-

1000 tenses, then declension, complicated and simple sentence, diacritical symbols... That's hard...

No idea. I assure you that that genial sentence came out of my imagination.

Anyway Russian is hard all right, but still there are harder languages around. Like German.
