Rebills. You're not the first, and not the last to fall for this stuff. It's lucrative as hell on the backend if you can stop your merchant account from being shut down.

I'm starting to think that you're just making this all up cause you don't want to admit you wanted to join a dating site, so that "free" software is just an excuse.

This is why I never give out my CC info, and don't believe anything about free trials. If someone like [sYn] can get scammed I'm a walking 'mark'

So they make sure that you don't abuse the trial by being able to register under a new name infinitely many times (Or abuse it in some other way). It's a very common practice.

im still stuck at the part where you paid for a product... i mean got to the point where you were going to sign up for something and entered card details for it...
couldnt you just pirate it normally, and then decide if you wanted it? or was it such a rare and obscure program that it just doesnt exist on any of the internetz?

additionally i got scammed once. bought a hdd online... days went by, and nothing... emailed them.. 'yes yes, it will still be sent...'
googling informed me a day or 2 later than the company had troubles, and the korean owners up and left the country with all the money they had been taking in from orders over the past month or so and had never any intention of filling.
awesome
great thing about CC's though... just go to your bank, tell em you got scammed, and they reverse the charges - which they did in my case. long as you have some proof that you got done over, it shouldnt be any problem.

Your CC company will have you covered. Tell them it was a fraudulent charge, and they will reverse it.

Actually it's even easier. Just go to your bank and request your money back. The COMPANY will have to prove that you made a contract. It's not you that has to prove anything.

When I first read all that I thought they had already taken the money outta your account and ran. Glad to hear everything worked out. Good move in deleting the profile before the free trail is over.
