Indeed they are terrible.
edit The forums were completely different few years ago when Steam was mostly used to deliver Valve's product.

I bought Bad Company 2 there, works just fine, got the key in a few hours. Homefront needs to be registered to Steam so you use the key you get for that which is pretty cool. And 29.99 GPB is not a bad price. And of course, that is a LEGIT download service site.

I've got big time buyers remorse with this game. I simply can't believe they fucked up the MP component so bad in terms of feel and balancing. When 90% of the team camps with the M110 (and you can't fault them as that is the most efficient weapon in the game in terms of kills/points), you've got a big fucking problem.
They need to either implement a class cap, drastically lower weapon damage, or drastically increase player health, preferably a bit of all three. As it stands there are no firefights, every single engagement boils down to who sees who first. Yes, yes, I know that's real - but it sure as fuck isn't fun (unless of course camping like a queer in a wookie suit is your thing, in which case you'll feel right at home in this game )
I still feel as though I haven't expressed my disappointment enough. Kaos is forever on my "do not bother" list unless they sort this shit out right quick.
I can never be free, because the shackles I wear can't be touched or be seen.

Nothing of the sort. I'm simply stating my huge disappointment (MP wise) - the game did NOT turn out how they claimed it was going to be. There is no teamwork - you can't pick where you spawn, you can't spawn on your squad, squads are totally worthless as half the time you're not even sure where your squad-mate is. it's simply a camp fest. If you like camping, you'll love the MP. If, however, you are used to a more tactics oriented run and gun feel (Battlefield's/BC etc) you are going to be seriously frustrated with what you find here.
Hfric must have a closet full of wookie suits!

@Immunity: Thanks for the mini-reviews; sounds like BC2/Vietnam remains the only decent recent MP game where teamwork is implemented rather correctly...the waiting for BF3 continues

We'll make sequel longer if fans complain, says Kaos
| Quote: |
Kaos has told CVG that Homefront 2 will be longer in the single-player department - if fans complain en masse about the first game's five-hour campaign length.
Kaos GM David Votypka said that it would be "a balance" to extend the single-player story whilst developing a top-notch multiplayer component - the area for which Homefront has attracted the most praise.
He explained: "It's a balance really. So if we were doing a single-player only game - and there are some of those out there of course - then you're talking maybe a 20-hour single-player campaign.
"I think going forward we'd certainly work on extending it a few hours, but going past the 10-hour mark and doing a category-leader multiplayer game... you just have to balance your development resources there.
"I think the main thing is do people feel that they got enjoyment out of the single-player campaign and enough of it? So we'll see how it comes out and what the gaming audience has to say about it."
Votypka stressed that multiplayer - taking into account Kaos' history developing big online shooters - is very much the focus of its efforts.
"We also want to focus on a large-scale multiplayer game and that you get a lot of hours play out of that as well - because that's infinitely more replayable than single-player anyway and you're going to spend the bulk of your time there," he said. "So we really want to make sure that's robust and deep." |
