Excellent! I just reached Chapter 6 and was worried I would have to use someone else's save to proceed, which I didn't really fancy. So we just over-write the existing crack with this one and it won't harness the current save?

Now they used the PS3 version for cracking, so there is no crashing because of 360 needing to change a disk.

It worked with the saves from my bought copy so you should be fine.

and I take it that you faced the Chapter 7 crash bug too, YES? If so, then that's great. FLT were pretty quick on this one.

I never tried the old crack, but I have just tested the new one and had a save just before the dreaded door and it went past it fine.

guy jumps out of a ventilation shaft, closet, behind the door, down from the ceiling etc and screams boo! over and over is hardly scary. | Summed up western "horror" games nicely. Jumpscares with some gore shoved in. Luckly DS have pretty good atmosphere to boot. Expecting actual dread and fear of the unknown in this series is silly. Both games are all about jumpscares and great gameplay, not actual horror. |
I guess I've just gotten used to what Frictional games have on offer and they're just a couple swedish guys sitting in an old fishmonger shop.
But it is probably silly to expect the same quality from a studio with hundreds of employees and a million dollar budget.

I must admit, the original FEAR wasn't that bad. There was a particular sequence when you enter in a corridor and the tiles of the walls fall. That was brilliant. FEAR had a good mix of proper horror with some cheap scares (including an enemy coming out of the closet to parody Doom 3's use of closet monsters ). But these days are long gone.

gamepad support on this game SUCKS!!!
its a nice game i really enjoy it but i`ve went through every x360ce/xpadder/joypad.txt combination i could think of and there is no way to make the game pad fully functional without bugs. the best i can do is make it work with every function mapped the way it should be, except that when my ammo is full or i don't have any ammo left for the gun i'm holding and i press the reload button he shouts the stasis gun plus some more minor issues.

So far i like alot more than the first one , it's just better in any way.
Controls are better and it more variety than just corridor shooting.

Going to fire up DS2 for another hour, let's see if things get a little better.

And hilariously enough, it looks better than both FEAR 2 and 3.

what is it with those locked conduit room doors, they ought to contain audio logs, suits and stuff..
i heard you need a dead space ignition savegame to unlock them, how is that even possible on the PC? is there any workaround to get them open?

Conduit rooms? are those the node-lock doors by any chance?
(You did save some power nodes for such locks did you, many in-game texts hints about it and some of the better items including weapon and suit schematics are found that way.)
EDIT: Or do you mean the amateur locks where there's this huge bright fuse (Usually right at the side of, other side though, door - very common at the Unitology church area though useful for back tracking and getting the security suit early.)
There's also these "doors" or rather glass wall with a orange target looking thing (Future planned expansion or some such also written.) that when shot triggers a vacuum, useful for certain fights.
(Or getting cut in half if you have a slow firing weapon equipped currently.)
EDIT: Speaking about gameplay improvements while it is pointless do try to stomp a larger enemy several times even once it's fully dismembered to hear Issac shout stuff like "fucker" and "mother fucker" loudly over and over.

No, for example one is in Chapter 1, in the room with the balloons, to the left. It contains Ammo and the Audio Log called "Final Report".
Spoiler: | |
There are supposed to be 4 such doors, requiring an Ignition savegame. One in Chapter 2 gets you a hacker suit.
