I am not PC elitist, unhappily, mine is not the best you could have, trust me. And you are right too, I played the game, maybe 10 minutes and deleted it at once.

Xenus 2 and Precursors both have sound issues minor or major(english version that is).

Yep, lots of sound problems. Usually only music is ok, while pretty much all other sound channels can be lost randomly from time to time.
P.S.
Does russian version really not have same issue? I ask since I essentially use russian patch on English version (and no, pure unpatched english game has same issues), from Trivinum english release.
So I'm wondering if maybe some DLL swap could solve the issue... If it's really true that russian version is unaffected.

What OS you have?
Soundcard? Integrated, or something special?
Missing AI voices?
Aren't voiceovers complete in Russian version?

Maybe I'm stupid, how do I skip dialogue? I finish reading it and then I have to wait until the dialogue decides to switch on its own.

English version users:
Does anyone not have sound corruption issues (some sound effects missing after playing a while)?

Yes, we all know that English version is not voiced in most places. But I don't care nor really ask about that. That how it is supposed to be.
What I'm wondering is technical issues when some sound effects get lost during gameplay (bullet sound, footsteps, motor sounds, etc...). It happens randomly during gamepley. I'm only wondering if it happens for everyone or is the issue only on some systems.

Everyone using the English version, they messed up something with the game due to the changed .dll's and gf_sound archive or something when they ripped and replaced those voice files, not fixable as far as I'm aware.

Currently installing unpacker found in official forum (fan made, very new) just to see what's inside sound folder.

I guess it's a pack of voice and sound files, probably also a file table (Though I think it's in Resource.qrc so the SDK will be needed.) with how it's associated and I guess that due to how they "removed" the voice files instead of adding placeholder 1KB stuff (Just a guess.) the order is incorrect so sound play gets weird after the introduction (Which is the in-game pre-recorded cinematic.)
Or something like that, never modded either game minus some light SDK tweaks with the unofficial translation to perks and other data, hard to figure out and use the utility.
(Only works with the Russian version as it hooks to Star-Force as well and it's a rather old archive with numerous bugs and glitches, that they got the dialogue translations restored and fixed a couple of bugs is more like a miracle considering that.)
EDIT: Finished Xenus 2 a short while ago as well, better thought out than Precursors which felt a bit rushed towards the end and thus Xenus 2 felt more finished though both have their flaws and I enjoyed both games plus they were rather lengthy considering todays average playtimes.
(Xenus 2 is a bit "uglier" and the bloom is a bit heavy plus sometimes it feels static and not very alive aside from what's scripted but those are minor complaints as I had a lot of fun and it took nearly 50 hours though I didn't feel like exploring the entire sea bottom and all mini islands so probably a fifty or so quests left that I missed, haha, found numerous fun stuff and oddities though but mostly via quests, hippie peace island for example, spider islands, indian coastal villages and various buried or sunken treasure chests and other interesting things.)
EDIT: Sound file format might differ as well since you can't use either voice/sound archive pack with the other version of the game.

Wow... someone posted links on deep shadows forums for Russian voice-over files, which can be just downloaded and dropped to English version to get Russian voice-overs while keeping English translation.
What a difference in atmosphere. Characters with voices and lipsync, space port with radio chatter etc... Just great.
.
And remember that unpacker I was talking about? It appears you can unpack English sounds and just put files with only voices for cutscenes as an override, this getting fully voices game on Russian with dubbed cinematics on English.
EDIT:
Tested and working!!!
It's really great to have both Russian audio and keep English cutscenes (to understand the story). Although, it would be good idea to run cutscenes at least once in Russian, just o see difference between Russian acting and reading lines in English (with one actor simulating several characters).

There's a lot of info here, so sorry if it's been covered, but what's the best way/version/tweaking combination to use in order to play this game without the horrendous mouse acceleration but still in english.

Open the .ini files under C:\User\Public\Documents\Precursors (Or Xenus2, both work the same.) and alter the sensitivity and other values in other INI files like you want them and then if you don't find the value you are looking for there go to the game directory and it's INI folder and alter say control.ini and specify sensitivity there as well.
Xenus 2 performs worse in this regards, Precursors was patched and one fix dealt with mouse acceleration specifically.

About using Russian voice files on English version:
I noticed it removed that bug with sound dropout that happens regularly with English version, from time to time.
Still, have no idea why would data changes lead to this, but it is as it is...

Question to those playing a game (Precursors).
After you get some negative reputation with the faction, is there no way for it to not perceive you as enemy and not attack you.
I gave some donation to bird people, and got -10 from democratic union, making it impossible to land in their base, without hostilities.
Any help?

There should be represents of all major factions (Unofficial translation adds one for bandits as well I think so those might be a bit difficult otherwise.) outside of the Clatz/Birds in the bar on Goldin, for Xenus 2 there's a similar person in the bar/shop on the starting island.
It's a sort of failsafe for 1000 credits (200 or if it was 500 in Xenus.)

I've seen those guys for DA and Empire, in the bar on desert planet, but it seem both can't really do anything in normal unmodified version of the game.
What bothers me with this, is that you are pretty much screwed after getting first -10 from some faction, often by just doing some minor task for opposite faction. It's bit too much one-dimensional.
