WARNING: NOOB QUESTION AHEAD

Say... is there any way to store a game's files somewhere with Steam?
One of the few things that keeps me from buying games from them is that I usually install and uninstall games very frequently, and rarely have more than 2 installed at any given time.

I wouldn't mind downloading 8-9 GB's once, but having to do it again after uninstalling it...

Yes

1) There is a tool called backup and restore games, but I think it's quite slow
2) I think you can just copy the game files from Steamapps folder

The backup tool is definately slow. Tried with Deus Ex (720 MB) - the process took ~90 sec (probably depends on CPU speed), copying the files takes ~20 sec.

Just tried it here and it took 35s but I backed it up to another disk.
It takes more time than copying the files because Steam compresses them, the backup was just 402 MB.

EDIT: Didn't compress MW2, though.

I've done it three or four times and every time all I do is copy the whole steam folder to another drive. Then I'll reload the machine. I'll reinstall steam and then I copy the whole folder back. Then let steam fix itself. Takes a lot less time than using their backup thing or redownloading everything.

Also, I think Tropico is 7,5€, not 4,25€.

I bought Tropico just in case if I get bored with fps games. Smile I'm also big fan of SimCity 3000 and 4.

Haha almost did that myself, the game looks pretty cool. But I have over 10 games on steam that I bought just in case, and since it was so cheap. Need to get playing soon.

Is it worth it? I had a quick look at the MW1 thread here, but the last post was a couple of years ago. :/ What're the multiplayer numbers like? And how long does the campaign last?

Campaign wise it shits on both MW2 and BO from a great height.
MP wise it's better than MW2, dunno about BO.
Don't remember clearly about the campaign length but I think it's slightly longer than MW2/BO, but not by much.
